Some good things but sticky carpet
Great location, great view from the bar at the top of the building. BUT, tha carpet felt sticky, looked like it hadn’t been cleaned ever, kind of gross. Also there was a disgusting smell in the room. The toilet broke, and the telephone didn’t work. The rate was good but just for the 3 first days, when I tried to rechek, the price was almost the double, of course I refused to pay that amount for that place. I have been in a lot of cheap 4 stars hotels in China, and have always been better than this one. Breakfast was good tough.

Small
Hotel was somewhat clean, nice location for a walk, but not for subway. Layout of room was ackward, and smell of the whole floor (outside room) wasnt fresh. I believe they should vacuum (steam vacuum) more often, and maybe change the carpeting. Wouldnt be my first choice in Shanghai. There are other hotels for the same money with much better shoices
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Look for hotels near the subway like. That will make a huge difference during the day trips since subway in Shanghai is new, clean and bilingual.

Great location, great price
My dad recommended this hotel to me and it worked out really well for us. The location was very close to everything and very affordable. Front desk was helpful with writing out directions to destinations for cabs. Great place to stay!
Traveler's tip on dining
We ate at 1221 which is at Yan’an Xi Lu 1221 which was fantastic! The service was amazing. We sat down and were immediatly greeted and served tea. Our server made great recommendations all of which we ordered and he offered to get us half servings due to the number of dishes we ordered which was very helpful. The food was outstanding! Reasonable prices. The best place we ate in China!
