The best for the money.
Stayed there last week 09-13 to 09-18, great location, new paint, new tile, everything was clean and did I mention price? Would recommend to anyone wanting a less expensive place to stay, but still wanting to be on the ocean. Will definitely go again given the opportunity. Nice people stay here too.

I’ve had better trips to this hotel.
The last time we visited we had an awesome room. We booked the same room this time but it was in the corner of the hotel. The room had a faint odor, a crappy side view and one of the beds was literally broken. Not to mention we had two roachey visitors in the kitchen. It was a severe let down, but now I have a map of the rooms and I know which ones to request. On the other hand, the new continental breakfast was very good and their pools are always very nice. The courtyard is beautifully kept and the ocean is steps away. And most of the staff is friendly, one clerk gave us a little attitude. It is also a little away from all the hustle and bustle and it is peaceful and family oriented.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
Travel about twenty minutes down atlantic into ormond beach, Ormond Beach art memorial and Gardens is only a 2 dollar donation and the gardens are gorgeous.

El Caribe (bad)
Looking at the pictures on expedia about hotel El Caribe, it looked niced but when we got there it seem like an old broke down hotel. The service was horrible I asked for extra towels and never got. The only thing that was good was the continental breakfast. I would not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy.
