Relaxing place
Hotel atmosphere is very quiet, rooms clean and smell great, and it’s close to the beach. We had access to Mamita’s beach, which made the visit to the beach more enjoyable. There are no phones or clocks in the hotel room. The beds and bed linens, however, are very firm.

Clean, central, safe
This hotel was just what my boyfriend and I were looking for: something that was close to the beach, close to 5th, secure, and affordable. We stayed in the palapa suite, which was on the 3rd floor with a private entrance and balcony all to ourselves (complete with umbrellas and lounge chairs). The room was pretty basic: fridge, stand up shower, hair dryer, TV, AC. No phone in the room. The guys at the front desk are really friendly and help with recommendations. Be aware that the night front desk staff does not speak any English. Overall, we loved it. Go! Pros: Clean, safe, central. Discounted lounge chairs at Mamitas Beach Club, 2 blocks from the hotel. Wonderful staff. Cons: The shower in our room had zero water pressure, so ladies be aware of this. Also, no phones in the room, so if you need anything from the front desk, you have to go all the way downstairs to get it.

Small, charming, wonderful!
Hotel was very much as advertised. Right on 5th Avenue, but not on the busy, noisy part of it. Perfect distance from a perfect beach. Room was comfortable, air conditioning worked very well, but beds were quite hard, which we were expecting. One thing that worried us was that our door could easily be opened even when fully closed and assumedly locked, however, we brought it to the attention of an employee and it was fixed the same day. Friendly front desk staff gave us advice about things to do whenever asked. I would definitely return to Posada Mariposa if I find myself in Playa again.
Traveler's tip on dining
We ate twice only twice on 5th Avenue during our two week stay, and were disappointed both times. Try going a little further inland to get more authentic, often less expensive meals. For even more budget-minded travellers, go to the Mega on Constituyentes for all your grocery needs.
