Wickedly dirty carpet

Initially this place looked good. Then we noticed that after one trip across the carpeting our bare feet were completely black. Linens and bedding were fine. We wouldn’t stay here again

Great for the price.

I stayed at this Super 8 on my trip to Phx to see a concert at the US Airways center. We decided to walk to and from the hotel to save on parking money, it took us about 20 minutes to walk to the venue. While this wasn’t a very fancy hotel I think it was great for the price that I paid, plus the location was great. We were within walking distance of both the US Airways center and the Chase ballpark. I plan on staying there again the next time I’m in Phx for a concert.

It was fine for the money

The only thing I have to say is don’t stay there if you want to go swimming. The pool was kinda green.

Not Impressed at all

When we got there it was 110 out side and they did not have the a/c on. So we left for about 3 hours and came back to find that even scents we left the a/c on when we left it did not work. We asked for another room but the a/c did not work there either. The rooms are small and the bothrooms are very unclean. We will never go back to this hotel!!!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

It was somewhat close to the baseball park.

Super 8 Motel

I would recommend this place to anyone. I have no idea why everyone keeps on giving this place only two stars. Did you think this would be a Hilton? If you wanted more then you should have spent more money at a different hotel. It got the job done. It is not as if you are planning on living there. It was just a place to crash for the night.

Remodeled But Inferior and Dirty

Dead roaches in bathroom; neither maid nor desk clerk was concerned. When called before making reservation, they said they were just several blocks from the Phoenix Convention Center; in truth, they were 12 blocks away! Reservation did not point out that no Non Smoking rooms were available. If I had not been forced to pre-pay, I would not have stayed at this hotel.

non-smoking room smelled like an ash tray

I was dismayed to enter my "non-smoking" room and be overwhelmed with stale cigarette smoke odor. This room was a smoking room at one time and the curtains still reeked of it. In addition, the carpet was absolutely filthy--almost black. My feet literally got black walking from the bed to the bathroom. The breakfast room consists of one table in the front office. On the positive side, it was well located for my need to be close to downtown and it had a fridge and microwave. The staff was friendly. Really--my complaints would be overcome with a good cleaning of the room--carpet and curtains and maybe paint to eradicate old smoke odors.

Good Hotel

Comfortable stay - the staff was a bit standoffish and reluctant to assist with certain requests. The room was clean, comfortable and within reason for the price. I would return as it is real close to downtown and real close to the ballpark.

Dont go there.

I went a Motel 8 before in Santa Fe, NM. It was a pleasant trip, and a very nice room. The rooms were clean. had space and quiet. BUT Phoenix is a whole different story. The room needed some maintenance. The door did not close right. the Carpet was so dirty that me feet got black in less than 20 minutes of walking. The tissue paper was only in the bath room and felt like sand paper! CHEAP. there was no free internet connection. The noise outside was so high you can hear everybody outside (may be that’s because of the door thing). the breakfast is in the front office which is a very small room that has only one table and four seats. People keep jamming into each other. The only nice thing about it is that its close to some nice parks in Phoenix.

Traveler's tip on dining

There is a market called Biaz market that has some cool stuff.

Cheap Hotel

It’s a good, quiet, cheap hotel. Nothing special. I’m very satisfied based on my own low expectations and minimal requirements for a room for the night. There is a hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant next door that has excellent food. It’s not a place to take your prom date, but the food is great. Downtown is a 10-minute walk away. This is where I usually stay in Phoenix because it’s cheap and parking is free.

If only I knew Phoenix a little better

If I had, I would have known this hotel is in the used car lot and adult book store district of downtown Phoenix. They did not have any no-smoking rooms, so if you don’t like the smell, too bad.

Dirty, Dirty, Dirty

This hotel was filthy. I would shower and put clean socks on my feet and the socks would be black by the time I reached the bed. The towels that were used for a shower in the morning were picked up off the floor by the staff and hung back on the rack as if they were changed. I know this because I have long red hair and my hair was on the clean towels as was my tangerine lipstick. The toilet would not flush. I would have to remove the lid and manually flush. The hotel mananger was a man of East Indian descent who pretended not to understand English when I complained. My nightly rest was interrupted each of the 6 nights that I stayed there by drunks in the parking lot and loud cursing. I placed at least 2 calls a night to the front desk. The breakfast was a joke. It consisted of a jar of corn flakes and a warm pitcher of milk, a bowl of apples and oranges, and a bowl of bagels. There was one toaster and people were literally lined up outside waiting to use the 2 slice toaster. There was only one table to eat the breakfast. The one clerk that checked in morning guests was also in charge of the breakfast. When this person became busy with guests, the breakfast would run out of food. The only good things that I can say for this hotel is that there were fans in the bathroom and bedroom area that would provide white noise.

Traveler's tip

This is a very dangerous place to stay especially if you are a woman traveling alone.

Better choices could be made.

The night staff was foreign and not at all helpful. The rooms were old and outdated along with the yellowed linens and the bad pillows. The smell of disinfectants and smokers stuck with my clothing all the following day. No better room available. Had I not already paid and had no internet access to find a new hotel, I would not have stayed.

Phoenix Best Kept Secret

Stayed at this hotel during Super Bowl Week, not the best area but room was clean, hot water was great, beds comfortable, friendly front desk. Walking distance to downtown but more activity was in Scotsdale about 25 minutes away.

not impressed

Continental breakfast was minimal, like airline food. Area of town was not great. Price should have been lower for the class of hotel it was.

Nice, clean hotel....

The hotel was very clean and the staff was wonderful to deal with. I had several questions and they were very helpful. The only two problems I had were very little hot water for one shower and that the shower head only came up to my shoulder. I’m not a tall person (5’10"), but I had to duck to wash my hair.

Traveler's tip on dining

There are nice, sit-down places to eat in the Phoenix area, but they are scattered around and very hard to find.

Great value within walking distance of downtown Phoenix

This hotel is a bargain if you want to be within walking distance of downtown Phoenix! It’s nothing fancy (as you might expect with a Super 8), but is very modern and comfortable. We stayed for 4 nights. The front desk and housekeeping staff are wonderful! Our room included a refrigerator and microwave, which were welcome surprises especially given our extended stay. The bathroom and bedding looked brand new. My only complaint regarding cleanliness is the carpeting. It was filthy! And I mean really, really filthy. So much so that we couldn’t walk barefoot in the room. The pool is very nice, and the laundry machines are cheap and work fine. Note that you must bring your own laundry soap (the hotel does not offer it for sale). The hotel is across the street from a very well stocked Circle K convenience store that’s open 24/7, which was very convenient. There is also a bus stop across the street in case you don’t want to walk into downtown, which is about 3/4 mile. The neighborhood may not be the nicest, but I was not afraid to walk to/from the hotel alone at night. Overall, I would definitely stay here again. I just wish they’d hire someone to professionally clean their carpets!

Nice hotel

Nice cheap hotel if staying in the Phoenix area. Close to Chase Stadium and downtown. Very good water pressure and very hot water if needed. Felt good after hiking camelback MT. I will be here again.....

not impressed

The room had many repair issues that really made my visit disapointing, holes in wall from poor repairs and the hotel was not in the best part of town. It was right in the lower class of town. The place looked pretty good from the outside and the people paid attention to security.

Would probably stay some where else

The Office / breakfast room was small to start off the visit, in that room. It seemed dusty in the afternoon light. I would not eat there. My room was small but comfortable with a King bed, works out fine if you are not there all the time.

Traveler's tip

It had a pool, looked clean. Stayed there because it was close to the airport. Some decent eateries a few blocks away. It was ok for not knowing the area.
