Close to public transportation
There is a friendly person at the front desk who speaks good English. She directs us to the elevator. The lights are of the type that turn off after a while, so you are going down dark corridors until you realize that you are supposed to turn them on. There is a serviceable elevator and the room is large but stark, with empty white walls, a bed, a straight-backed chair, and two night tables but nothing else. There is a refrigerator and a small stovetop with pans, plates, utensils, soap and a sponge for clean-up. We did not need this as we were there only one night, but it is worth noting. There were precisely two towels in the bathroom (I did not try asking for more). Everything is clean and acceptable however. I ask at the front desk if there is a navette to the airport, and I am told there is not. The common transportation for all hotels is said to be slow and unreliable. A taxi ride will cost around 30 Euros. The desk clerk does not know of a public transportation connection to the airport. To get to the airport with public transportation we take the A metro from the Sainte Augustine stop to the Lycées Merignac stop. There we transfer to the 49 bus, which gets us to the airport. The whole trip takes 50 minutes, waits included.
Traveler's tip on dining
Merignac Center is at the end of the A line, in addition the trolley ticket dispensing machines are out of order there; our credit cards do not work and the machine will not take coins, so we take a chance and take the A metro without paying. We go downtown to the Hotel de Ville stop. There we look over a few restaurants and decide to have a great meal at the Café de France. It costs 70 Euros for the two of us, but it is worth it.

Basic hotel, but good location
The location is good. Although it is not in the city center there is a good and convenient tram service. The stop is close to the hotel. Hotel is also easy to find from the ring road because the signage is very good. There is a good car park. Hotel rooms are clean, but would need an update to be more comfortable and enjoyable. You miss the wellcoming feeling. Pictures on the wall and nicer curtains would do a lot. The corridors are the same. There is a feel of 1980s in the rooms and in the corridors although everything in in good shape. There is also a lobby bar, but it is not cosy. You can get a beer, but otherwise selection is very limited. Basic hotel in a good location.
