Location, location
The staff at the Bristol were all English speaking, friendly and helpful. The room was a good size with a balcony. The location was exceptional. We did all our travel by train and being walking distance close to the station, was great. Was also within walking distance to all the Avignon attractions but out of the busy tourist path. The breakfast offered a nice variety but was a bit pricey Spent 5 nights at the Bristol and it was all great.
Traveler's tip
If traveling by train, be sure what station you want. The TGV is a shuttle bus (1.20 Euros)and a 20-25 minutes ride to the station. The local train station is a short walk from the Bristol.

A good base for visiting Provence
I wasn’t too keen on our first interior room, but once we had moved to the room across the hall which overlooked the main street in Avignon, I really enjoyed our stay. I was warned that the room was noisy (and the French street sweepers were loud!) but I loved being in a different culture and experiencing the differences. Watching the city wake up each morning was wonderful. The room was always clean; the staff was multi-lingual and helpful, and the location was perfect.
Traveler's tip
Avignon is not an easy place in which to drive - the streets are very narrow and there is a one-way system within the walls of the town. It took us over an hour to find the hotel, so be sure to get good instructions on how to get to it. The following day we had the use of a GPS system and it made all the difference!
