Good Hotel. Area seems shady at first, but walk around and youll realize its in a great location.
Can be hard to find (make sure you have a map of its location if youre taking a taxi, our taxi driver didnt know how to get there), but once you figure your way around Athens you realize it is in a pretty good location. The locale may also seem a little shady at first, but walk around a little bit you will see that youre in a fairly safe area. The hotel is real close to Ermou St, the Monastiraki shopping & dining area, La Plaka, the subway system and even the Acropolis, pretty much where all the action is in Athens. Only about a 10 minute walk from Syntagma Square. The hotel itself is not bad. Certainly not a 5 star hotel, but for a short stay in Athens its does the job well. Breakfast buffet is simple but pretty good, there is a rooftop terrace with a good view of the Acropolis, functional WI-FI internet at the lounge, and good sized rooms with contemporary finishes. Some complaints though. Staff seem a little cold, but they do the job and can be helpful when necessary. We also thought we were getting a king bed, but their "King" is just two twin beds pushed together. Our view from the room also wasnt the nicest, though truth be told when youre in Athens youre probably not going to be in the room too much. Aside from the minor annoyances,it was a pretty good hotel at the right price. I would definitely recommend it. Probably best fit for young couples or families that are okay with walking to most of their destinations.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Dont miss the chance to visit the newly opened "New Acropolis Museum" while youre in Athens. The museum itself is almost more fun to visit than the actual Acropolis (Plus its air conditioned)

Good location for the Young Traveller!!
My husband and I came on our honeymoon and stayed for a few nights (before heading to the islands), and though Arion is hidden in a street somewhat off the beaten path, its a 5 minute walk from Monastiraki square, and another 5 minutes to some great shopping, and another 5 minutes from Syntagma Square. The rooftop terrace has a BREATHTAKING view of the Acropolis (they were not exaggerating about that). The rooms themselves were small (but its Europe so we expected that), but it was comfortable and clean. There was a refrigerator and an in-room safe (which is controlled by your room key). The bathroom is nice and big too. Downside: the concierge/front desk service is rather cold. They were not at all willing to offer information unless you asked, and even then, it was short and not very helpful.
Traveler's tip on dining
There is a GREAT local Taverna (its the one with a brick exterior and lights hanging all over the terrace on the street) right down the street. As you leave Arion, turn right and at the first fork in the street, its the first taverna on your left. The head waiter/manager knows quite a bit of English, so hes a great help explaining different dishes (which is helpful if this is your first experience with Greek food). They serve huge portions of amazing food at low prices! We ate there 3 times!!
