Giant Creepy Bug in Expensive Hotel Room
The Otsu Prince Hotel is on beautiful Lake Biwa in the Shiga Prefecture. From the outside, the hotel looks amazing. And the view of the lake from the hotel room was beautiful as well. As for the hotel room itself?! I’ve seen better at budget motels. The carpet was dirty. It apparently used to be white, but it was definitely stained. That was the first thing that I noticed in the hotel room. Besides that, the rest of the room was adequate, although the decor also looked outdated, like it was stylish in the 1980’s. The bath/shower room was very nice. The bed was adequate, not especially comfortable. In the morning, my fiancee saw a giant, hideous bug on the side of the sofa. It looked like a giant centipede! He took a picture of the bug and we had our friend email the photo as well as an explaination of what we saw to the Otsu Prince Hotel staff. They did not reply until about two months later, and then they basically said that they checked the room and didn’t find anything and that they would try to clean better next time. Of course, the bug would not still be there after two months. Overall, we are both very dissatisfied with their lack of attention to what was a potentially dangerous poisonous bug and the mediocrity of our stay. It was the only four star hotel that we stayed at in Japan, (we had splurged just for this room) and it is the only one that I will never go to again.

Very pleasant staff
The staff did everything they could to accommodate us. They were very helpful with everything. When we called downstairs to ask for something, they would come up within 5 minutes with your request.
