Will go back!

Stayed at Villa Palmar Oct 11-17th. The hotel is very nice, very clean and the beds are very comfortable. The grounds are beautiful with many flowers and the pool is awesome. Ask for a room above the 4th floor. Any lower and your view will be blocked by palm trees! Downside was that the beach in front of the hotel was very rocky and the water looked kind of muddy and had a strong undertow. I don’t usually swim in the ocean, so I really didn’t care. The room had a small kichenette which was very convenient if you wanted to prepare some of your meals. La Mega market is close by, so you can buy most of your groceries, snacks, drinks there which saves you alot of money. Drinks and food bought at the hotel are expensive and the food is not all that great. All in all, we had a great time and would go back. If you like to party and do the night scene, this hotel is to far from Puerto Vallarta and expensive to get there by taxi.

If you go to Bucerias eat at Audautos. Fish is delicious. Take a tour to Caletas during the day or do Rhythm of the Night in Caletas at night.

Fun family getaway...

Beautiful hotel right on the beach. Very family friendly with a huge pool in the center of the resort, where kids can play safely since most parts are very shallow. Location is nice if you want to be away from downtown, but the cab rides got expensive to go into town. Tours were enjoyable. Swimming and snorkeling were so-so, due to visibility not being ideal and the water is quite warm so it’s not that refreshing to swim in. Food in resort was overall good, but not always the authentic mexican food we craved. Restaurant prices were a bit on the higher side.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

This resort has most rooms with kitchenette or full kitchen, so you can stock up on basic supplies and have them in your room. There’s an on-site mini market which carries all the basic necessities and it was much cheaper to have water, drinks, fruits and snacks right in our fridge.

Great for Family Hotel!

I’m very satisfied with my stay in this hotel. Then staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel room is clean and got great views of the ocean. Main selling point is the lagoon type pool. Kids will love it! The beach water is not as prestine as I would expect, and a lot of jelly fish. So we preferred hanging by the pool. Hotel breakfast buffet is good but dinner is alright. All inclusive option is good if you drink. But I prefer eating out to explore different restaurants and I’m not tied to the hotel for my meal.

Traveler's tip on dining

Be aware of timeshare sales offerings. Because as soon as you enter the lobby, you will be approached by a people offering you free breakfast, discounts, amenities, etc.. but for a price of attending timeshare presentation. This is common on all hotels at Puerto Vallarta. If you could avoid this, then you’re in for a good start, unless you’re intending of buying. Restaurant recommendation: "Mason Bay" walking distance by the beach from Flamingo.

Good Hotel, just not good for scuba diving

The hotel itself was beautiful but not diver friendly. If you want to go to a place to relax, lay on the beach or enjoy a nice swimming pool, that is the place to go. If you’re a scuba diver, don’t bother. Go To Cozumel instead.

Time Share Nightmare

The minute we got of the plane and were walking towards the front of the airpot where we were to meet our Expedia transportation we were bombarded by "representatives" for the hotel.they told us that expedia was going to be another hour wait and that we could go with them and have a free breakfast in the morning. We were saved by the expedia rep as we were leaving the airport with the "reps" from the hotel as he had been waiting for us the entire time. When we said we did not want to go with the hotel reps they became upset and tried to tell us that we had been dishonest with them! We were then bothered again as we entered the hotel lobby to register. They had beat us the hotel and were waiting to tell us that we could still get a free breakfast and they then gave us a bottle of tequilla as a gift. We were called at 7:30 a.m. to tell us to come to the breakfast. The harassment made the first couple of days very stressfull on what was suppossed to be a relaxing time. they were unrelentless until we fianlly agreed to come to a breakfast two days later. I did not go on this trip to treated like this and will only return if I can find a place that will treat us as paying customers and not second class citizens because we did not want to attend a three hour presentation on purchasing something we were never interested in to begin with.

Very impressed with facility and services and cannot wait to go back.

I highly recommend Flamingo Del Palmar Resort & SPA as the best destination to relax and live worry free. I found this place extremely accommodating for singles and families and I couldn’t have asked for more. The pools were well designed and inviting, the rooms were well maintained, and well appointed with the little extras like the kitchen. The bell boys were helpful every time we asked them which places to visit, and the overall resort was a dream experience.

The Resort’s location is in a safe area.

Only one Italian eatery available. The pressure to go to the sales breakfast was way overboard.

The airport experience was horrible. We were forced to be rude to get away from all the sales people. This is no way to start a vacation. We arrived at the hotel after 4:00 p.m. and had to wait for our room. It was a ploy to get us to talk to sales people. This was no way to start a vacation. The hotel called two more times to try to pressure us to go their sales breakfast. This is no way to relax on vacation. Once you said a firm "no" to the hotel sales team, they weren’t helpful. The two restaurants on the property combined into one Italian joint. The service was slow, the food was good. The room and the view were the best thing about this hotel.

Avoid Timeshares

The hotel was beautiful, the food was good , the staff was great......what was wrong???? The incessant badgering by the people pitching the time share. We paid to stay there and were annoyed very much by this unforeseen aspect.

Traveler's tip on dining

Great funky restaurant called the Blue Shrimp....downtown ...excellent food and fun atmosphere.

great place

we had a great time at the resort, very clean and the place is very well maintained. The resort is about 15 miles from old Puerto Vallarta so there are very few restaurants and night clubs in close proximity. We ended up renting a car because taxis are expensive and you need to take to buses to take downtown. But if you intend spending most of your time at the resort it is a great place.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

The ATV tour was great and the conopy tour at Los Veranos was also great. However the Los Veranos conopy tour took up a whole day because it is about 2 hours away from the resort.

great!

very modern, and clean! quiet most of the time.. friendly staff and cousy rooms. the beds were not hard at all as many other hotels out there. kitchen included so you can buy groceries and save a little bit on food, coz believe me it is not cheap at all.. (good thing they have a super market near by "LA MEGA"), the taxi is nos cheap either to go to the city they will charge you about 20 dlls. and 20 dlls to come back to nuevo vallarta. I bought a pizza at the italian restaurant they have next to the pool, and honestly it was pretty bad, so dont try it. i wish they have the all included version as other hotels do, because you get to spend ALOT in food by going outside to dinner. one other thing, dont bother yourself by trying to check in early coz that will not work at all, we got there at 8:00 am, and they gave us the room at 4:00 pm!!!!.. so we wasted a lot of time there.. but overall great hotel, modern instalations. great if your going on a family trip, coz its really quiet...

Great Hotel. Love our 1 bed room with washer and dryer. Staffs are all wonderful. Awsome pool area. Watch out for timeshare drama from the minute you step out from the airport until you check in the hotel.

A little gem away from the crowds

The resort tries its best to satify all the guest. There are plenty of staff members in the lobby, restaurant, spa and pool side to wait on you hand and foot. The food was very good especially the breakfast. The resort is the last one in the Flamingo Beach area so if you want to be "away" this is a good choice. If you like spas you should check the spa is very modern. The town of Burcerias is walking distance if you go on the beach so you can experience a bit of Mexico on your trip. The town has a plaza, market area and good restaurants along the beach. Downton Puerto Vallarta is a 30 min taxi ride away. The resort does have its own upscale taxis at your disposal which helps.

Enjoy your leisure time

I went during the beginning of the influenza alert in Mexico, and i found an excelente place to rest and enjoy the sea, beach and the hotel amennities. The service of the hotel personnel was great. I really think Mexico has done an excellent job to control any possible influenza spread, so i recommend to visit Vallarta or any place in Mexico.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

This hotel is about 15 miles from Puerto Vallarta and taxis are a little expensive, but you can use the bus service that takes you from the hotel to Puerto Vallarta. It is cheap and clean and you can enjoy the view and people from this part of Mexico from the bus.

GOOD ATMOSPHERE, POOL AND ROOM VERY GOOD

My husband and I will go back if back to Puerto Vallarta, we consider that INTERNET SERVICE should be FREE all over the hotel and rooms, is like having the service of a phone now a days, if you have your own computer. They could charged if you use their computers. Villa del Palmar Flamingo has a very good location if you want to rest.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Lovely stay, will go back if ever back in PUerto Vallarta. INTERNET should be FREE if you have your own computer, this is the only bad spot of the hotel.

To far from Puerto Vallarta

This hotel is about 30 min from Puerto Vallarta and 20 from Brucerias. This hotel is okay if all you want to do is sit by the pool, not if you want to explore downtown Purto Vallarta. We stay in the one bedroom suite. It was great to have full second bathroom, full kitchen and laundry room. The room was perfect for 4.

We got our groceries at the Mega about 5-10min away. We save a lot of money!

Elegant, beautiful, fantastic

Everything was fabulous, except the pressure to attend a time share presentation. We were approached too many times and it was annoying. We wouldn’t permit it to spoil our fun in such a lovely setting, but they need to "back off". We have been through it before and are not interested in their hard sell pushiness, no matter what amenity they offer.

Traveler's tip on dining

A small, casual restaurant called "Guido’s" was excellent Italian. Located near the Marina.

Nice hotel, but too far from everything

If you are going to see Puerto Vallarta, you would save a lot in cab fare staying someplace in PV. If you just want to stay at a nice hotel and sit on the beach, this is as good as any other. Good food. Nice staff, but they do want to sell you a condo.

Fabulous!

Perfect setting for a wonderful family vacation. We enjoyed the beach and the pool and the suites were very big and comfortable. Would go back in a heart beat!

Skip going into downtown Puerto Vallarta, it is very busy, dirty and crowded, not worth it if going with little kids.

Nice hotel with lame restaurants

The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful. The pool area is pretty, if sometimes a bit loud - in the afternoons they have a DJ playing pop music and running bingo games. The service was great; my only complaint about comfort was that the beds and pillows are as hard as rocks. There are two restaurants in the hotel, both of which were stunningly mediocre and overpriced. Neither of them serve real Mexican food. And there’s not much else in walking distance - downtown P.V. is a 30 min. cab ride. To get a good meal, you should walk up the beach to Bucerias (a little more than half an hour’s walk) to Meson Bay, a great open-air restaurant on the beach. We loved the fajitas. Overall, I enjoyed my vacation, but who wouldn’t like Puerto vallarta? If I go back, I’ll probably look for a hotel closer to more restaurant options.
