Good for the price

We went to Hot Springs in early October. Since it was the very slow season believe it or not we were the only family stayed in this hotel that night. Overall this is a good hotel for the price but needs some upgrades inside and out. Hotel staffs were very nice too. We will stay here next time.

Would not recommend this hotel to anyone visiting hot springs!

Hotel looked fantastic driving up to it. Then went inside. Our shower curtain had mold all over the bottom. The patio awning was bent and was filled with wasps and spiders. The bed was HORRIBLE!! The most uncomfortable thing i have ever slept on. The best part of staying there was not being there and going into the beautiful downtown area of Hot Springs where there were several much nicer hotels that will get my business next time i visit.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Get a message at the Quapaw Bathhouse!! Fantastic!! Also be sure to check out the antique stores around the area. The German Beer Garden restaraunt was my favorite place to eat there.

Ready to spend little more time

Great for Family gathering. Loved the indoor & outdoor swimming pool. Big storm made the power go out for several hours. Still love to go back

stay away from this hotel!!!

what can i say, my mother taught me that "if you don’t have anything good to say, just say nothing"!!!, sorry mom i didn’t listen, i reserved a family suite 2 adults and 2 kids, the room had an old wet basement smell, no towels, no linen for the pee strain pull out sofa bed. the bathroom had mold and the paint was peeling off the walls, the master bed suite if that’s what you call it, was sad, the bed hard as a rock!!! the breakfast was a joke!!!the best thing about this hotel was the email picture, what a disappointment

Too outdated. Needs total renovation.

Everything in the hotel was old. The lighting was dim. We turned on all the lights in the room and could still barely see. The carpet was soiled and dirty. That place needs a total make over. It’s dingy and drab. I would never stay there again or recommend it to anyone. The ducks/geese were the only nice thing there and of course being on the water.

Nice Place

As all the other reviews I read on this place. It was very nice, but needs to be updated. It is a nice place to stay for the price.

Living in the Past

It is an old but clean hotel. Nothing is modernized, and the beds are feel like a pile of flattened cardboard boxes. But is it kept clean and tidy. Everything though is very very dated.

Nice location but little old

The hotel location is very scenic with lake view, geese and enough space around it. It must have been an extremly nice location maybe 20 years ago. Over the years it became a bit run down and would need a major renovation. Wallpapers peel off, holes and scratches on walls and doors are not fixed, etc. The rooms are big and there is an indoor swimming pool - which is pretty nice. The staff is friendly, but not too motivated. Overall ok for a day or two.

great amenities

we stayed in a king suite, it was very clean, comfy and affordable. pools were nice, bar and lounge great, food pretty good too. There were only a few noticable flaws and they were regular wear and tear, nothing to prevent us from returning soon!

A Good Place to Stay

When we drove up to the hotel it wasn’t quite as large and nice as I had hoped, but it was nice. It was right on the lake. The suite we had was very nice...a large living/dinette/desk area with TV, then a very well lit sink area outside the bathroom, a large bedroom area with another TV and then an outside patio area with table and chairs. Had a jacuzzi tub, but was pretty outdated. A bit hard to climb in and out of. There are gardens and couches all through the hotel, but the carpet needs to be stretched badly. The buffet each morning was to die for (not continental), but no other meals are served. The staff are extremely nice and congenial. Will help with directions for sites. It’s about 10 minutes from the downtown attractions. Mid-America Science Museum about 5 min. away. Except for the rain it was a good stay. Probably would stay here again...but I might stay a bit closer to downtown. Lake Hamilton was beautiful and was literally 5 feet from the patio. It really was like being at home. Also, an inside and outside pool and a very small private beach.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

The Duck is great for learning the history of Hot Springs and Lake Hamilton. Mid-America Science Museum great, wax museum OK, Winery is great for adults (free tasting of a dozen wines), shopping very interesting, Gangster Museum very enlightening and historical. Tower is very nice, good drive adjacent to Arlington Hotel or long hike.

Would never go back unless the resort is repaired!

This place has so much potential and was obviously a jewel at one time. Where do I start, first, most of the staff was very friendly and helpful, but, everywhere you look the place is badly worn or in disrepair. Torn carpet, peeling wallpaper, mildew stains. The gazebo along the nature trail is an eyesore with it’s rotten roof. The window spars in the atrium are all rusty and the windows are filthy. I saw duct tape repairs on things. Only one ice machine for the whole complex and they ask that you don’t use it to fill your ice chest. A person can get a lot more for the money. Magic Springs was just fine, well kept and prices were ok with free drinks and free tubes for all the water rides.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

There’s plenty to do for families and couples alike. Magic Springs was good with the amusement park and water park all in one. The Mid America Museum is a must for kids. Lots of good food around. The Colorado Grill was the best place we ate.

Overall good stay.

The room was spacious and clean. Had some trouble with the toilet overflowing and later a fuse blew because we had two blow dryers going at once. Otherwise the room was comfortable and the indoor pool was enjoyable.

The kids really enjoyed feeding the pet geese. Don’t let them put you in the rooms directly accross from the indoor pool. Unless you don’t want to go to sleep until 11pm.

Past its prime

This hotel has definitely seen better times but I’m sure that it was an incredible place to stay in its day. Almost everything about the hotel could use updating and renovations. With that being said, our room was clean and a fantastic size and set up for families - especially for the price. The hotel staff was great. Our kids loved the indoor pool and they enjoyed feeding the ducks that came right up to our room’s balcony.

Was once a grand place

You can tell that this resort was once a grand place but it is badly in need of repairs and updating. There were holes in walls and ceilings and the carpet on the first floor hallway is so stretched out that there are literally wrinkles large enough for you to trip over throughout the hallway. There was also a lingering unpleasant odor in our room along with mildew on the walls. The staff was just WONDERFUL, could not ask for any better. Everyone was friendly and accomodating- So much so that I feel guilty saying anything negative at all. But it was just in SERIOUS need of updating and repairs!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

If you’re going to go to Magic Springs, the season pass is only about $5 more than a one-day ticket. It’s a fun place to take your family. This hotel is also VERY close to the Mid-America Science Museum. We were there during the traveling Human Body exhibit. Way cool and worth the admission!

Relaxing

Grounds kept in excellant shape In door and outdoor pool was never crowded and noise level low. Breakfast reasonable, service very good, dinner only on friday & saturday. Plenty to chose from off the menu. Disappointed no soup. No internet in room, had to go lounge area, but area was comfortable with large screen TV. 10 min from downtown

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Take time to rent a boat and enjoy the lake

although the staff was warm and friendly, the resort needed upgrading. It is in a timewarp somewhere between 1977 and 1983.

Great staff but hotel could use some maintenance

Really liked the room set-up. The ducks and the ducklings were great to watch. Love the convenience to the lake for fishing. Both pools were very nice to swim in and kid friendly (nothing over 5 feet deep). The things I didn’t like were the mold on the ceiling tile, the out-dated furnishings and no vent in the bathroom to get rid of the steam. The staff were very friendly and helped us with driving directions and restaurant suggestions. The biggest reason I wouldn’t recommend this hotel is the mold on the ceiling tiles. I wasn’t pleased having my infant in a room with mold.

Not Impressed

This hotel needs a lot of updates and maintenance. They were always out of pool towels; they were short on wash clothes; the outdoor pool was dirty and we never saw anyone clean it. Our shower liner was mildewed and well was the tile in the shower and the shower liner was not attached on all hooks. The tv’s worked but were very, very small. The refrig was not cold enough. The gazebo and nature trail was not well maintained and needed beer bottles cleaned up. The extra blankets for the pull out sofa bed were extremely worn and tattered.

with a little paint and nice porch chairs it would be a perfect family place

I was very impressed with the family atmosphere. The inside pool needs a cleaning and maybe a little resurfacing. The view was beautiful of the lake. The staff was so accommodating and quick to serve you with towels or whatever your needs. My friend and I are already speaking about bringing our family back.

In the suites there is room for a blow up mattress for the children or baby. The microwave was so convenient as was the refridgerator. Bring floats, the lake is beautiful and the beachy bottom is fantastic. There is also plenty of play things, boats etc. to rent for the day at reasonable prices.
