Gorgeous! Would definitely go back in a second!
We stayed at the Clontarf Castle Hotel for our honeymoon and it was everything we wanted! Convenient access to Dublin City Center and the airport. Hotel staff was exceptional and always eager to help with any questions we had. I think weve been spoiled now and when we come back to Ireland will definitely want to stay again!

OVER ALL GOOD TRIP
My sister and I went in sept 2009. We loved the hotel and area. It is a little far out of Dublin but learned how to catch the bus which was a block down. Our only problem we had was at night it got hot in the room and you were unable to put the air any lower. Also one night we could hear the band in the bar from our room will trying to sleep. There was a wedding reception every night so we were unable to use the main pub area. Over all it was a good experience.
We recommend using your debit card to exchange Euros or notifiy your bank early enough to have them exchange for Euros. You need euros for cab fare to hotel first off.

It was nice for the price
I wanted to stay in a Castle. Well this was partialy a castle, and Im sure it makes you feel like your approaching a castle. The room i much like any hotel room. I stayed at Ballyseedy Castle a week earlyer. The room in this castle was 5X larger than the room at Clontarf. Balyseedy was a real castle, with real Towers. We acually stayed in the tower. Like I said Clontarf was nice, dont pass it up. Anyways, you have to stay in a part of town that Bram Stoker lived in.

Stunning Castle hotel!
We had a great stay at the Clontarf Castle Hotel. The hotel is gorgeous and attention was clearly given to every detail. The rooms were very nice and the bed was one of the most comfortable weve ever had in a hotel. The staff was overall very helpful. We had never been to Dublin before so we had a lot of questions about sightseeing. One one receptionist working there seemed to be a little put out with our questions. We did eat dinner at the Knights Bar, which is very good but a bit pricey. They also provide a free shuttle bus to take you into downtown Dublin, which was most convenient!

Magnificent Hotel (Castle)
Clontarf Castle is by far the best place to stay when in the Dublin, Ireland area. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful no matter what your question is. The Castle is outstanding in service and cleanliness. It is conveniently located near bus/train areas, and they can have a taxi there in just a few (try 5) minutes. They have several restaurants located in the hotel as well as room service. It is located in a lovely quiet area and is all you could ask for. I would highly recommend this as the place to stay when traveling to Ireland!
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Definitely ask the Concierge for information on places to see and transport to get there, the bus system offers a several day pass at a reasonable cost, and the bus is how the majority of people travel in the area.

Dont ask for directions to the hotel
hotel was very nice once we found it.We called the hotel for directions ,which were useless. We were driving from belfast to dublin and it was dark by the time we arrived in dublin.Their dirctions got us lost soon as we entered dublin.we called the hotel to redirect us but were giving more confusing directions. We stopped at a airport hilton hotel where the the staff helped us considerably, they even contacted the hotel to get the directions accurate and were getting confused by the directions they were recieving too. They printed a map out for us which helped somewhat but yet again we got lost.We pulled up to a car on the street and asked for help and after some more confusing directions they told us to just follow them. And yes we did find our hotel if not for this nice woman, otherwise we would probably still be driving around the suburbs of dublin.

Holiday in a real castle
The hotel was all we thought it would be. We had wanted to stay in a castle, and this hotel definitely fit the bill. It has tastefully been modernized, and to its credit, a very good job. Yet, its decor still has the feel of a medieval castle...complete with suits of armour! The room was roomy and very comfortable. The staff was attentive and extremely helpful, even answering our "silly American" questions. We caught a bus to Dublin just a few blocks away, so even though it is not in the downtown area, the city is very easily accessible. The hotel is situated in a very nice neighborhood, and we even were able to go out walking in the quiet neighborhood. We ate in the restaurant in the hotel for dinner, and it was the best food we had our entire trip! We would highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again if we ever get to go back to Ireland!

Very Relaxing experience
Hotel is somewhat out of the way (in a residential area), but bus service was available right outside the gates and taxi service was almost immediate. The rooms were extremely comfortable and clean and the staff was very helpful with every one of our needs. Only downside would be that the restaurants/bars are expensive and there is not really any other close by alternative.
Traveler's tip on nightlife
Not much available other than hotel bar. Castle is located in a residential area.

Castle Experience
This is a wonderful place to stay, the rooms are very comfortable up to date. Did not feel like the average hotel stay. Would of stayed longer if I would of known how nice and very resonable price.

Great room decor
Wonderful room with a very comfortable bed, new and stylish furnishings and a bright, inviting vanity/bathroom. Short drive from downtown Dublin. Hotel pub and eatery were very good. Service at checkout was subpar - clerk was on phone for several minutes speaking with a manager. I did not wait around for her to finish her conversation - she should have stopped and called him back. I ended up leaving the key on the counter.

Very satisfied guest
We were extremely impressed with this hotel. From the moment we arrived we received topclass service from all the employees. The hotel is beautiful inside and the rooms are very luxurious. The bed was the most comfortable of our entire honeymoon and this hotel was our favourite of the entire trip. I would recommend it to anyone who is visiting Ireland and Dublin. The concierge was also very helpful in planning our day in Dublin. Thank you for a great stay.

Wonderful for R&R
We stayed in this hotel our last night in Ireland after spending 12 days driving around the whole island. The room and bed were large and very comfortable. We had no car but found a great restaurant a few blocks away (The Nuthouse). This hotel is in a very residential area but was a welcome oasis for our weary bodies.

Gem just outside of Dublin
My husband and I stayed in the Clontarf Castle Hotel while on our honeymoon. It was a quiet, convenient location, close enough to downtown Dublin to enjoy that scene but far enough out to relax. It was an excellent stay for us, the staff was friendly, available and very helpful for us.

The Wow Factor!
If youre headed to Ireland and plan to stay in Dublin, you MUST stay at the Clontarf Castle. The Castle is beautiful, the people are friendly and helpful, and the ambiance is ROMANTIC. The Castle was business-friendly as well, and I HIGHLY recommend this hotel for anyone and everyone.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The ONLY downside is that the Clontarf is outside of the city, but the bus is LITERALLY right there to take you into the city center for 1.80 euros per person. 5 STARS!!!

dublin was awesome
i thought the hotel was very good but you really need a car if you are going to go anywhere. there is nothing close by to walk to and i did not see any buses during the 2 days i was there. it is really not a castle just the front facade so from the front on back it is just a hotel. kinda misleading. all in all it was a good hotel to stay at but would recommend to stay closer into town for less money. not worth the increase for just a pretend castle,

Great hotel and great value
Clontarf Castle is a very unique hotel -- modern in all ways yet it integrates a 12th-century castle into its architecture -- particularly the main lobby area. Very cool. The bar is very large and extremely nice. Location-wise, its a very short cab ride (15 euros) into Temple Bar, or a somewhat long walk to the rail station and two stops. While the location is not perfect for Dublin sight-seeing, the rate is extremely good and for the money you save you can take a cab back and forth and pay for a few Guinneess beers too.

Fantastic Hospitality
We recently stayed at Clontarf Castle Hotel. It was the last night of our honeymoon. The Castle itself was beautiful and conveniently located. What made it so much more memorable for us was the fantastic staff! Once they found out it was our honeymoon, they upgraded our room for us. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. We had the best scones-hot out of the oven-with jam and clotted cream. Wonderful hotel. We will definitely recommend it to others and visit again!

Great Castle
We wanted to stay in an Irish Castle. The Clontarf Castle was a great castle hotel. The rooms were modern and comfortable. The lobby and surrounding areas of the hotel was decorated with castle artifacts. Great. The only disappointment was the staff. The receptionist was rude upon check in and everytime we asked a question about getting around town and Dublin she was rude. Wrong information was provided about charging for the rooms as well. Even in the bar area the waitress had an attitude as if she did not want to be there. However, I would stay again nice place away from Dublin city but not too far. Can take a bus or taxi.
