Nice Small Town Boutique Hotel

Stayed there in late August, 2009. Hotel had free airport shuttle, but only for your arrival and departure - not for airport trips to connect to trains into Amsterdam. Standard room was very small, more like a Japanese hotel room, but very clean. Hotel room had no air conditioning and hotel had no elevator. Don’t assume these features are standard in smaller Dutch hotels. Trips into Amsterdam required a transit bus ride with free connections onto a commuter train. The hotel was situated in a small town out in the countryside which was very picturesque. A computer was available in the lobby for internet access for a small fee, plus free wi-fi if you had your own laptop. Full service restaurant and bar was a plus.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Be careful buying all inclusive passes for buses, trains, boat tours, museums, etc. We found they are valid only on select carriers, not including one transit system we were using. Buying tickets in advance for museums highly recommended. The lines outside were brutal - especially in August!

Needs Room Makeover/Unimpressed

This hotel is 12 miles, in a small residential town from the central area. Hotel rooms are outdated. Management need to update furniture- ancient old alarm clock, old phones, curtains and bed frame. The rooms were small but decent size; if you are not going to be indoor is good to rest, sleeps for a couple of hours but not to hang or stayed for long periods. The first day we arrived there were insects (flies) by the curtain windows.Since, the windows were left open it came from outside. Hospitality could be better if they have someone by the counter desk 24hrs. For the quality of the hotel they should be charging less money for these rooms. They might as well call this a Motel rather than a Hotel.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

See everything get a Hotel near the Central area and or centrum and take the city transportation. Its very easy to ride their city bus and everything you want to see and do its at walking distance.

Definitely not a 3-star

I’m not sure how this hotel got rated as a 3-star hotel and also why the distance from the airport was completely out of line with reality. It took a while to get there and the location was in the middle of a residential area and we had to take back-roads to get there. Because of the location, there was no chance to go anywhere. Although the bed was comfortable, the room was tiny and cramped. I didn’t rate a 1 because I got a bonus of picking up free internet connection from one of the neighboring houses and so was able to do some useful work. I would not recommend this hotel for anybody travelling with a family because the rooms a very small. Since I stayed only 1-night, it was tolerable bit not for what I had to pay because it claimed to be a 3-star. It definitely is not by any stretch of the imagination. You definitely need to look into this rating and also the stated distance of the hotel from the airport (they must have used a direct-line measure not the distance through the winding roads that one must actually follow. We are not birds and so can’t fly straight from the airport to the hotel).
