Stay again

The hotel was a great value and perfectly located in Montreal. Maybe we were fortunate this time, but the view was amazing outside of our window. The usual room has you looking at a wall or over the rooftop of another building. We were greatful to see McGill University, skyline etc. Did not dine in the restaurant but the ambiance and menu looked appealing, far too many great places in walking distance.

One of the Best

It takes a lot to impress us but this hotel was definitely very impressive and in our opinion should be rated higher than a three star. The front desk staff were very helpfull and most accomodating. Our room was spotlessly clean upon our arrival and the housekeeping staff made sure that when we returned each night everything was in perfect order, clean linens and towels and fresh toiletries. The room itself was quite large and well laid out and the balcony was a definite "plus". I don’t know if we were just on a quiet floor but we heard no noise either from adjacent rooms or the hallway. The location is excellent, only about one and a half blocks from the "metro station" and you can get almost anywhere on the island from the metro, many nice restaurants (the Bellagio around the corner is wonderful) Le Baie department store and many specialty shops, all within walking distance. We will definitely be booking any future stays at this hotel.

Beautiful Hotel, But they have to improve on their service...

What a beautiful hotel! Its 2 blocks from St. Catherine, just convenient. They also have a spa, gym and a gym. But heres my small little dilemma...They have to improve in their service. One night we didnt have enough towels..so we called front desk kindly asking them if they can send more towels to the room. It took 2 follow up calls to finally get some towels up to our room, and how many did they bring?? only 1, with a wait time of 25 mins. My girlfriend was upset LOL. The other night we decided to eat at their restaurant, we sat down to eat. Either they were short staffed or they were really slow. 20 mins later, we got impatient and sat at the bar and ordered food and drinks. Again...i totally recommend this beautiful hotel to anybody!!! But in my opinion if im spending a pretty canadian penny then i would at least expect good service.

We went to Montreal in October..boy! was it cold!!!!! I was talking to locals and they were telling me the best time to go to montreal is on spring and summer.. because there is more going on.

Great hotel, great price

The staff was very nice. The hotel was beautiful. Our room was very big, clean, and had an extremely comfortable bed and bedding. The location was great, close to all including a metro stop. The concierge was very helpful and the front desk was just as helpful when he was not available. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would recommend the hotel.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

The Maison de Jazz is right down the street and has live jazz every night. It is a restaurant with a bar area as well. The food was good, a little pricey. We really enjoyed drinks and the Jazz at night though.

Nice location, convenient to Metro/shopping

Had a really nice stay, sandwiched between a couple of not-so-nice experiences. 1) When we arrived, at or after check-in time on a Saturday, our room wasn’t ready. Took an inordinately long time to find a room (a couple of hours, during which we were offered an immediately available, but smaller/cheaper room). Long story about how lots of people had stayed there the night before, maid service was slower than normal, etc. While the desk agent was telling me there were "no single king-bed rooms available now, only ones with two double beds", however, I heard the agent farther down the counter tell a couple of fellows that there were "no rooms with two double beds available, only ones with single king beds". I held out for what I paid for. 2) The last morning there, my wife and I had breakfast at the restaurant/buffet. Took forever for the waitress to seat us/bring menus/deign to acknowledge our existence; she was having a grumpy morning due, evidently, to understaffing of some sort, a co-worker not showing up so she had to cover for them, etc. Not that professional, but maybe understandable if I’d been in her shoes. Still, though, not something I as a guest enjoyed experiencing.

Upgrade

The staff was friendly. The bar tender at the restaurant was especially nice. We stayed in a premier room and were very happy with it.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Make sure you stay in a premier room. The benefits are well worth the extra money. Free internet, appetizers at night, and a breakfast buffet. If you’re interested in night life, this is a great place to stay. If you want to spend most of your time in the old town, consider a hotel that’s closer because it’s a long walk.

Good location, that’s all you’ll get

The hotel is quite old and partially not updated. Lobby is nice but you won’t sleep there. Bedroom we get (defined as PREMIUM - I would not imagine the standard room) is quite old and in needs of renovations, but it’s not dirty... at least at first sight. If you check your bedsheets, you’ll find that they do not fit the matress...and so... you will probably finish to sleep on the naked matress during the night... that is disgusting from my point of view.

Delta MOntreal

The location and service at the Delta Montreal are second to none. Every contact I had with personnell was very pleasant; they are very helpful and friendly. From that location, one can walk just about anywhere, and if you can’t walk there, the metro is a block away. Love the Delta Montreal!!!

A few bugs that worked themselves out...

When my wife and I checked in, I was given a room on the lower floor (economy). The halls were had paper shedding, the rugs were not very well maintained. Even before we reached the room, we heard there was a full family with loud kids. I immediately turned around and went to reception to let them know my dissatisfaction. There were very helpful and upgraded me to a superior room on the upper floors. Now that was very nice and clean. We initially had a few problems with the door card, to which we had to return to reception (several times). It worked itself out in the end and we were finally able to enjoy our night.

Traveler's tip on dining

The restaurant inside the hotel is quite limited on their menu. My suggestion is to head out on the streets, there are many restaurants close by.

Good location

Overall, the hotel was ok. But I would go back because it is conveniently located downtown. Just one block to the metro train, which is the best way to get around Montreal.

Good for the money

The room was surprisingly very pleasant but it could use some update. The carpet is worn out with some lose threads. The bathroom has an old decor and could be spruced up with new and modern tiles as well as a granite counter. The wallpaper in the bathroom should be removed or changed to one with a modern twist.

Seems like it was much better hotel once upon a time...

From outside and pictures, hotel looks really great -- big, classy, in the center of the town, and still not too expensive. Once upon checking in, after initial excitement (big and nice lobby, great big room, working table with lights and easily accessible power sockets, big beds with nice pillows, even the balcony with beautiful view of Montreal at night and early morning!) disappointments started to pile in. First thing: finding our sink drain can’t be opened. Quick call to the operator, and plumber comes in and problem solved in 15 minutes with apologies. The doors to room don’t lock by themselves; you need to push/pull them a little until the automatic lock clicks in. After that, finding old chewing gum glued to the breakfast menu in room. Disgusting. Then we find out that *in* our room there are some locked doors with some machinery humming all the time whole day and night. Not *very* loud, but annoying nonetheless. It was probably just our room (or small number of them). Then find out out while there is high-speed Internet in room, it is ONLY wired one, no wireless (good luck if you don’t have laptop but are just trying do quickly check email from your phone). Oh, and it’s not free, you have to pay extra for it for 24-hour access. Ok, there is a commonly accessible shared computer room. And it is free. However, the computers are quite old and extremely slow, and noisy too. And you have to wait to get a free computer.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Reserve a day to go see Montreal botanic garden - it is big and extremely beautiful with all kinds of trees, flowers, beautifully set lakes and waterfalls, with various cultural setups like japanese gardens and such. I’m not usually a big fan of flowers and stuff, but this one was definitely worth it. Expedia also sells a voucher for it (and biodome/insectarium/montreal tower, they’re all around, and nice to see) so you can see all of them at discounted price.

needs updating but exemplary service

We stayed for 3 nights and were impressed by the hotel’s lobby.Grand piano was a welcome sight as my 12y/o son is an avid pianist.Too bad, some keys were out of tune/broken. The room we had, while spacious, needed updating. The view of downtown Montreal from the balcony, especially at night was beautiful.Service was impeccable. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. The cleaning lady was very accomodating to our needs-- even left us a thank you note for her tip. Had to pay extra for parking but such is the case in Montreal as we found out. Overall, a nice hotel.

Reasonable for the price

Good location for the Montreal Jazz Festival. Close to a subway stop. Biggest complaint was that the carpets in the rooms were pretty dirty.

Great Location

This hotel is in the best Location you ever dreamed of. Highly recommended for first time visitors. It is litterally in the middle of everything. St Catharine is two blocks south. Park Mont Royal is 10-15 min walk north on Rue Pee. Subway are just a block away.Old Montreal is 15-20 min down south. Famous St Denis is a few blocks north and Rue Prince Arthur is 10 min away. Great places to eat there and not expensive. Hotel is a great for those who is only there to sleep.
