Typical Carmel Hotel

Typical Carmel inn. The hotel was clean and the rooms were very large for a Carmel hotel. Nothing fancy but it was fine.

Over Priced Mediocrity

Virtually every "motel" in Carmel has something quaint to offer but, let’s face it, they still are nothing more than over-priced, glorified motels. This one is no different: conveniently located in the "village" with modest rooms and amenities. Our first night was aweful with an overly soft bed and a noisy neighbor (not the hotel’s fault). The next night they relocated us and the noise and comfort (bed) level were better. In most major cities you could pay less for a four star hotel than what you’d pay at this "joint". But, still, you are in Carmel so you have to keep things in perspective. Overall a satisfactory stay if somewhat spartan and unglamourous

Traveler's tip on dining

Grasings is a mustFor dining. As a wine lover and collector I can’t recommend Morgan Winery more highly for wonderful pinots at fair prices.

Not impressed

Advertised with complimentary breakfast. It was a continental breakfast with not much to choose from. It wasn’t open until 8:30am for "breakfast" and one morning no one was around until after 9:00am. We were extremely disappointed in the room and area it was located. It was not worth the money. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Good place for families to stay

After reading some of the reviews on the hotel, we were a little aprehensive about the hotel but also figured it was more about having a place to sleep in the downtown area without having to worry about parking, etc. Imagine our surprise when we entered to room to find it beautifully decorated, clean and spacious. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The daybed with trundle was convenient for our two daughters and they slept really well. The only draw backs were that the armoire where the t.v. was didn’t have a latch to hold the door open so we rigged something and that the walls were fairly thin, but that’s to be expected with older hotel/motels. The breakfast spread was simple and nice and the people we interacted w/, both guests and employees, were quite pleasant. We’d definately consider staying there again.

Traveler's tip on dining

The Forge in the Forest was right across the street from the hotel and was an enjoyale experience, they evening have special seating for dogs :)

Good room and location. Breakfast was bad.

The hotel was ok for the price I paid as I got a rate from the last-minute deals on Expedia. The room was good and location perfect. The breakfast was really bad. Not to mention that the breakfast room was the size of a bathroom.

Good location in Carmel

We had a suite and it was excellent as we could entertain friends for cocktails. The motel was very well situated for walking around Carmel.

Traveler's tip on dining

Christopher’s was very good with local wines featured.

Totally not impressed

Dried blood stains on bed linen which was very thin and had small holes in it. Requested a bed linen change which did not happen. We slept on towels. Light fittings at bedside coming away from the wall. Described as a suite - one large room with additional day bed. Not a suite.

Not for families

room was nice, location was not

Our room itself was fairly nice, but unfortunately the window looked out onto a wall only 3 feet away. Also, the hotel must be located along the busiest commercial thoroughfare in town as noisy trucks were driving up and down the street day and night. The first night, the people below us were talking loudly until well after midnight which kept my wife awake. After talking to the manager, and realizing that it must have been his family in the room below, the rest of our stay was free of loud talking. A continental breakfast is included in the price of the room, but it is much less than those offered by other hotels.

Nice little Inn at a reasonable price...

Downtown Carmel has a good variety and choices of hotels, inns and bed & breakfasts. For the price and convenience, this place was a nice little stay. We were able to get a suite, so our little ones were able to hang out in the "living room" area to play and watch tv and sleep there (there’s a day bed in this area). This gave my wife and I the bedroom with some relative privacy. Only negative thing, really, is that the continental breakfast could be better. I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

Convenient

The Carmel Inn and Suites does have one thing going for it, convenience. My wife and I could leave our car parked and just walk to down town to shop or go to dinner. The room was clean but lacked attention to maintenance details such as obnoxious automatic light switch that we had to cover at night to go to sleep. The telephone battery was flashing because it wasn’t being charged and the clock was a half hour off. It’s the little things.

Ok getaway to Carmel

The hotel I am sure was wonderful at one point. It is a bit older and needs some updating. The rooms are clean. Not much available on site but stores are very close and you can walk to town in minutes. Pool is very small and was closed some of the time we were there. Some rooms back to other homes so you could hear the neighbors.

This is an ok hotel if you just want somewhere to sleep. The King suites do not have a TV in the parents area but in the living room where there is a pull out trundel bed the kids will have a TV

Great Location

The best part about this hotel is the location. It is right in the heart of Carmel, so you can walk anywhere. Be careful with the small spaces in the parking lot. Someone hit our car and when we asked the front desk if anyone reported anything they seemed to not be concerned at all. We were there at the end of June and the pool was closed (no water in it). With all that being said, the location makes it an okay place to stay.

Traveler's tip on dining

Lots of great restaurants. We really enjoyed Cassanova, just down the street.

Good Place to Stay

Had a working wireless internet connection, which was very important for me. Friendly management that cooperated nicely with a couple of special requests. Sufficient continental breakfast, with cereal, toast, pastries, etc. Comfortable bed and clean bathroom.

Traveler's tip on dining

Forge right across the street. Bruno’s deli and groceries about 50 yards away. Many Ocean avenue stores and dining optioans are within walkable distance.
