Very fun and friendly staff! I would definitely go back!

I thought this place was a great place to just get some good rest and relaxation! Everything is right there and the beach is just right outside the hotel. The staff is helpful and the food is really good!

Good for the price

Clean hotel. Great location. Very nice beach. No mini bar in room. Buffet restaraunt was excellent but reservations are required for any other restaurant so by 9 in the morning all tables were reserved which was pretty bogus. Overall very good for the price i paid.

pretty nice

our stay was pretty cool the only thing bad was the bar closing at 12am but the rest was pretty decent for the price the beach was nice and clean FYI if youre thinking of sight seeing i recommend to go across the street to the travel agency is cheaper than the hotel.......

never ever i mean ever get a connecting flight in mexico city its a nightmare you walk for like about 3 miles to get to the other side and a long line for immigration..........keep that in mind and we’re mexicans

Not bad at all

Given the price of this hotel, I was quite happy with it. The only problem that I can really mention is the number of elevators, not enough. But as we spent most time at the beach anyway, it was not a huge deal. The entertainment staff was great and activities were fun. And the sunset from the beach was b-e-a-u-tiful! I would definitely stay there again.

Great Hotel for the price

My friends and I had a blast staying here. The food in the buffett was good. We tried the other restaurants at the hotel, but found it easiest to eat at the buffett. (You have to make reservations for the other restaurants.) It was within walking distance to downtown and we felt safe walking there. The rooms were clean and so was the entire hotel. I also suggest booking transportation to/from the airport prior to going. It made the trip very easy.

Head to the foam party. It was a blast!

Oassis Is Great Royal Hiolidays Killed it.

Oasis is a great hotel, clean friendly great Location and amenities, good food, fantastic value. Loved it, except for one poor judgment call on the part of their management. For a class AAA hotel chain such as the Oasis to allow Royal Holiday Time Share sales representatives to set up shop in their lobby is a fatal mistake. BEWARE of these vultures that pretend to work for the Hotel. Armed with a Sign that looks as if it is a official warning from the local police which reads Something like: WARNING if you left money with a timeshare sales rep at the airport you may have been robbed. They claim that if you see some other companies timeshare presentation that you will not receive the promised Vouchers, will lose your money and waste 7 hours of your time facing a Hard Pitch! Meanwhile they claim that if you see their timeshare presentation they will get your money back, which I doubt they can. Give you their vouchers and save you about 51/2 Hours of your time. Very Tricky and deceptive.

Stay away From Time Share Reps in your Hotel.

Nice location

You get what you pay for. Good location but the room was in serious need of updating. Some of the staff worked very hard to insure your comfort while others appeared to barely tolerate your presence. Food was good except for the snack bar and the fruit was apparently out of season. Hotel was strong on the time share presence. Again updated rooms and some staff adjustments would improve the overall score.

Cancun Fun!

The hotel, pool and beach area were nice. The food quality and choices were good. The staff was very friendly and courteous, especially the entertainment crew and the buffet staff. Hotel could use air conditioning or ceiling fans in the common areas, especially the dining buffet. Overall a very good value for the money.

Take the city buses as much as possible. Excursions run on the high side though, so plan on spending more than most destinations.

First Time In Cancun

The weather is tropical with high humidity but thats what is expected. It appears that everyone is willing to help you with directions only to find out that thier interest is in selling you a presentation for some timeshare deal. Everyone from the airport to the hotel is in on it, they welcome you aboard and talk about what your interest are while in Cancun only to try and get you to attend a seminar for which they get something out of it, not sure what though. The hotels is very clean and located in a nice area of the beach, pretty central to the surround stores for tourist. All of the store vendors try to persuade you to go into thier shop to see thier wares. Everything you see or touch is observed and a pitch to buy follows you everywhere you go. The rooms are really clean, the restaurants and nice with great food, drinks are plenty and the people are great. Would recommend to everyone.

The water is absolutely beautiful and different shades of blue.

You get what you pay for!

I only ate at the resort and got food poisoning. It was the sickest I have ever been in my life. I should have went to a hospital. The food is horrible the drinks are very limited, but most of the staff was very friendly. This place is cheaper then most for a reason.

Wonderful vacation experience

We have traveled extensively in the Caribbean, and this is one of the most enjoyable vacations we have had. The hotel is beautiful--clean, wellkept, and the staff was so helpful. They answered our every question and helped us so much when we arrived to check in. The beach is gorgeous, the food was varied and extremely well-prepared, and the people were delightful. We enjoyed the evening programs very much. We were surprised with a bottle of champagne for our 56th wedding anniversary! We loved being at the Oasis Viva Grand and plan to go again. Freddie and Dee, McPherson, Ks.USA

We go to the Caribbean primarily to enjoy the beautiful beaches and lovely water. It was perfect at the Oasis Viva Beach Resort. We read in a previous review that it was helpful to leave a small tip for good service, and we did this. The people really appreciated this, and we were killed with kindness!

Best Beach in Cancun

We spent 5 nights in mid-October at Oasis Viva beach. We loved the beach, the buffet was good overall with a lot of varieties, we ate and spend a day at the pool at their sister hotel Oasis Cancun -free of charge-, The staff at Oasis viva was nice and very helpful, except at the front desk. Perfect location, you can walk to shopping areas. We had a plumbing issue in our room, and after two unsuccessful repairs and repeated requests, we were transferred to a much nicer room, btw, all rooms have Ocean views (rooms on the 7th floor and below have balconies). We rented a car at the terminal, we thought we didn’t want the hassle of waiting for a bus/shuttle and the pricey fee of organized tours. It turns out, we saved a lot of money. We visited Tulum, Chichen Itza and Xplor. Plenty of places for a first timer, we would definitely go back and would stay at Oasis Viva if we get another good deal.

If you are planning to visit and venture outside of Cancun (Chichen Itza about 2h20mn, Tulum about 1h30mn, Xcaret & Xplor are about 1h away on the way to Tulum-...) Reserve a car at the Airport and avoid the hassle of shuttles/buses and pricey tours. It’s much cheaper.

Fair for the price

Overall, the hotel was good for the price you pay. Great location, fun activities, room was okay but not very comfortable. The buffet was good in the morning but not a lot of selection during lunch/dinner, same thing every day. The sushi bar was good and the snack bar was poor. Need to improve on their food. Fun activities on the pool area and beach was beautiful. Stay away from the time share. Friendly staff.

Avoid, time share... they just waste your time.

Oasis Viva Stay

Oasis viva all inclusive was very acceptable for the price. The concierge greets you and gives you all the neccessary information needed for your stay, as well as a greeting with a margarita..nice!. The food on the resort is excellent in the buffet and the restaurants are nothing to sneeze at eithier. Honestly we were expecting much less and for the money it was a very satisfactory stay. I would recommend you take advatnage of all the inclusive has to offer, such as the drinks at the numerous bars and the free kayaks. one thing you have to ask for an iron and once you get it, hide it! the cleaning people keep taking it back and it takes forever to get another one. Enjoy!

Second time at this hotel, good value, location and the staff are cute

My second time at the Oasis Viva, very conveniently located, clean, good food and a good atmosphere to socializing, the lobby makes a great meeting point. WiF is not free and if you wait too long then the food is not warm but still very good. We ate till we exploded about 10 plates a day. Go for the higher floor rooms since the lowers one do suffer from damp/mould smell, we had to ventilate ours, the 9th floor are brand new. Ours had a balcony with was a plus. Recommended hotel for young people looking to be close to the night life, eating well, and lounging in the sun all day.

Great BUDGET all inclusive - Ideal for thrifty travelers, not without its drawbacks

The Ocean and beach outside of the hotel is WONDERFUL, you can walk out into the water for several hundred feet and only be up to your midsection. The water was very clear and fish swam all the way to shore. We looked at a couple different hotels (expensive hotels) and the beach at the Oasis Viva was nicer then all of them. The food is OK, nothing special (Mexican night was very good) and we got tired of the buffet after a few days (it was kind of hard to get reservations at the restaurants). The room we stayed in was adequate, it was clean and the shower had good water pressure, again nothing real special about the rooms they were fine. The only place ice is available is at the bar. It is a really good idea to bring your own Large insulated cup(s) the bartenders will fill them with your beverage of choice. The one big problem that we had with the hotel was that the common areas (we went during low season) are very HOT and very HUMID the common areas are not air conditioned, this includes the hallways, buffet restaurant, lobby, and bar (basically everywhere), the humidity was oppressive and it made it so the only place you could escape the humidity was in your room. In conclusion this was a great hotel for people traveling on a cheap budget. The ocean and water was great. The hotel itself was nothing special but it severed its purpose and it was clean.

We did several activities while we were in Cancun. 1) Chichen Itza - it was very nice to visit one of the new seven wonders of the world. The structures were spectacular. It is definitely worth the trip to visit. TIP: We went during low season and it was HOT and HUMID I can not overstate this enough, even the locals were sweating and complaining BRING WATER (more then you think you will need) they do not sell it in very many places when you are in the park 2) Scuba Diving - I am a certified diver and I did a one tank dive (I cannot remember the exact location) It was a slight drift dive. Saw lots of different types of colorful fish including a puffer fish, also saw a sea turtle. The reef that we dove on was definitely dying but it was a good dive (only about 25-30 feet) 3) Xel-Ha - This was a great place to visit, snorkeling and water activities are wonderful a bus tour that includes Xel-Ha and tulum does not give you enough time at Xel-Ha this is some place you want to spend the whole day. TIP: They want you to buy the biodegradable sunscreen $14.00US a bottle and they warn you they will confiscate your own non-biodegradable sunscreen the biodegradable sunscreen WASHES OFF, use your own stuff discreetly. 4) Catamaran Cruise to Isla Mujeres - It was a good time. TIP: Use your own sun screen discreetly they try and sell you the biodegradable kind that doesn’t work (this time for $20.00US)

Great Hotel

I am the kind of person that does not trust people’s comments about hotels or places. I like to get my own opinion , We spend 5 fabolous days in this hotel we event went to Islas Mujeres and stayed there for only an hour because being at the hotel was much better. I will have to recognized that the food at the buffett was not that good but it was ok! , the bar was perfect along with the room ,the view and the service.

I was surprised, that it was exact the same, like on the pictures! I will go back!!!

We looked around, and saw the other hotels and there beaches and it was the truth: oasis viva beach has the BEST beach!! The food was so tasty and the bartenders tried to make us all the drinks we were dreaming of! It was a wonderful and relaxing time! I want to swim again in the light blue see! WONDERFUL!!!

Upgrade to deluxe or dont bother staying!

we didn’t realize that the oasis deluxe was attached to the oasis viva beach, and was just an upgrade! the regular rooms have horrible ac. the entire hotel doesn’t have ac,so the hot air flows right under your door. the buffet breakfast was the only enjoyable food at the hotel. the dinner restaurants were terrible! the worst was the Mexican style restaurant!(hard to believe) if your planning on staying at this hotel do the upgrade to the deluxe the rooms are much nicer, and so are the food options!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

since we couldnt stand eating the food any longer we walked across the street and found a little bar called the seahorse.. i was the best food we had all trip!
