We were pleased with the hotel and accommodations. Great location with friendly staff.

We love going in the fall as the days are still nice and there are few people on the beach.

Off Season stay

We stayed durin the week after ROT, Oct 11-16. Iit was very quite and nice, great value. Everyone was very polite. Cleanest part of the beach

Marvelous

My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and thought it was absolutely spectacular!!!! It’s hotel staff were extremely friendly and knowledgable and they have a restaraunt inside the hotel and the food was incredible!!! Bar right beside the pool and jacuzzi!! We would definately stay here again!!

There’s lots of things to do around the island and the hotel is located in a pretty good location to all of it. Strip malls all around, dolphin watching, fishing, para-sailing and more!

The longest hall in a hotel1

Had a very nice stay at the BW La Copa. Breakfast OK but very crowded and noisy on weekends. Happy hour amounted to a drink ticket, bar open irregular hours in September. Beach nice and accessible. Room very nice and clean. The doorman was extremely friendly and helpful, not so much the desk staff. Staff worked continuously to keep hallway clean. The hall of the hotel was very long as was the parking lot but they did have a little bit of beachfront that way. I’d stay there again and South Padre was wonderful!

The Big Donkey, Louie’s Backyard, Sea Ranch and Pirate’s Landing were all great. Blackbeard’s was only OK.

Staff was great. Breakfast could be a little better. The location of the hotel was great. We went especially for the beach and the hotel access was excellent.

Good for the price

Our only complaint was that the towels were a little scratchy. The breakfast was more along the lines of continental with cereal and a type of fruit. Some times they had waffles or pancakes, but not always available. Overall, good service. Will stay again.

Too many screaming kids in the pool and at the breakfast area

Management needs to update the rooms. They are old and outdated. Add music to the pool area. Supply umbrellas and chairs to its customers.

Excellent location!

The front desk personnel wasn’t very friendly but our overall stay went well. The resort is located right on the beach with a bridge in the back that leads to the sand.

Great Location

Excellent place to stay when you have family! Great access to the beach. Pool was small but good enough to enjoy. Can’t wait to go back.

Nice beachfront hotel

The hotel offered a reasonable price and a room big enough for my family of 5 without anyone having to sleep on the floor! It is located on the beach so it was easy to go back and forth to the room. The people were helpful and friendly. The pool was smaller than it looked on the website so we didn’t spend much time there. Hotel is close to local attractions and we were able to walk or catch the shuttle everywhere we wanted to go. The hotel parking lot is small but everything else was great. The breakfast was really good and saved us money. As did the free happy hour sodas for the kids. We would stay again in the future.

There are lots of attractions in South Padre for the family. We found that most things offered cheaper prices on the internet so check ahead of time and print out your tickets. It saved us a bunch.

Great location, nice hotel

We enjoyed our week at La Copa. Good service, nice roomy rooms, and an excellent location. Breakfast is crazy - too small of a space, almost impossible to manuever through, and haphazard offerings. Otherwise, no problems at all, and a terrific hotel.

If you have low expectations, this is your place!

LaCopa is an OK hotel, but there are several things that are wrong which may make you feel like you are not getting your money’s worth if you buy a room at peak room rates. First the hotel is built so only the ocean front rooms have a view. Second, you have to park a mile away from front of hotel. Third, no place to eat lunch or dinner at hotel.Free breakfast but lots of people. It was extremely crowded, the hall ways were not wide enough. Fourth, pool too small and lots of people again! I would not go back, based on the feeling that I did not get a good value for what I spent, but I went during peak summer. Best advice is either pay up and go to a nice hotel or go lower and save the money.

Will definately go back to this hotel every time.

Loved the broadwalk to the beach. Location is perfect, close to everything.

Was everything we thought it would be.

Beaches great, beach access was awesome. Hotel was what we expected for a 3 star. The attached bar and grill service was awesome for pool side or room service. Would stay ther again no questions. Front desk service was great.

Decent place to stay

the ice maker did not work on our floor and one of the elevators was out of service the entire time of our stay. The hotel has direct access to the beach but you will have to carry your beach supplies through the hotel lobby.

Don’t count on the breakfast or food service

While we really enjoyed the hotel and beach access, the rooms and staff were great, the free breakfast is not a reason for staying here. There were long lines and too many tables and not enough space to even enjoy breakfast. Of the 4 days we stayed, I was able to get 2 waffles for our family of four. They ran out of orange juice AND coffee. The first floor is always packed in the morning and if you are thinking about trying to get a lite breakfast to save money forget it!!! Also the pool bar & grill was CASH ONLY. You couldn’t charge anything to the room and the menu was limited. Great for kids... pizza, chicken strips but nothing decent for an adult meal.

Prepare to have cash for drinks at the pool bar and grill and $25 per day to get an umbrella and 2 dirty lounge chairs on the beach.

pricey for what you get

elevators were very slow, so we used the stairs often.parking was limited, often parked across the street.everything else was good.

Pretty good for the price

We stayed three nights over a weekend. The rooms are extremely large and the beds very comfortable. The only complaint was the poolside bar service for food. Had to wait over an hour for a couple of burgers.

Very relaxing, exactly what I wanted!!!

The room was exact to my specifications with a king size bed and jacuzzi tub. Very close to the beach with a pathway leading from the room’s patio door to the ocean. Parking is a little cramped but really wasn’t an issue. I recommend this to everyone looking for a relaxing fairly inexpensive getaway!!!

The ocean is in walking distance from the hotel. Awesome water park a mile away! Great shops all along the strip.

You get what you pay for

The hotel itself was fine - room was clean but very crowded.There was really no room for all our beach stuff. One elevator was broken the whole time. The pool was very crowded with lots of kids. The breakfast buffet had long lines and not enough places to sit. Beach access was great. Overall, it was a hotel for families on a budget, which is fine but very crowded with loits of kids!

Great improvement

We have stayed here before, about two years ago, and although it wasn’t bad, it was much better this time. I think due to the hurricane, they renovated and updated their building. The carpets in the hallways and in the room smelled new. The first floor was always dry and wasn’t stinky even though people walked while they were soaking wet. We stayed on the third floor. The beds were really comfortable. This hotel is very affordable, especially for a family of five. We enjoyed our stay.

Good for the $$$

The room was clean, but we were in a room at the end of the hall by the elevator so we could hear the "ding" and people talking all night long. We would stay here again, but in a different room. The continental breakfast was good...really enjoyed the waffles.
