Good value for money

The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful with just about everything - tours, directions, room service etc. The food was good - both breakfast and room service. The carpet throughout the hotel was a little unpleasant looking - my husband kept his shoes on while we were in our room, I wasn’t that bothered. I couldn’t quite tell if we were getting clean sheets every night, though we did get clean towels so why not sheets too right? The hotel was a little off the beaten track - about a 30 min walk to Plaka. We never quite figured out where to buy bus tickets or the schedule and the closest metro station was about 2 thirds the way there so we just walked it everyday. This was a little bit of a trek in the heat but I felt completely safe walking at night in the area which is why we chose this hotel after reading some of the uneasy reviews of other areas such as Omonia. All in all a good hotel for a good price. Oh, the little internet area was great too for checking e-mails etc.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

I thought the "out of the city tours" with Key tours were really worthwhile as the city itself (other than the tourist areas) is very dirty and we saw some other beautiful parts of Greece. The Delphi day tour takes you up in the mountains with views of valleys of olive groves (3.5 hr bus ride). The Poseidon afternoon tour was also nice driving along the coast. The Athens night tour was a little disappointing-we never stopped for photo ops but the Greek dancing at the Taverna was interesting.

Nice, affordable boutique hotel in Athens

The Athens Atrium Hotel is tucked away from some of the street noise you typically find in Athens. It is still just a short drive away from the Acropolis and Parthenon and other museums. I found this hotel to be very service-oriented, with convenient access to computers. The breakfast was fairly good and included some delicious Bougatsa, a tasty Greek pastry. The room was well appointed, but being used to more plush mattresses, I had to take a few measures to make the bed more comfortable. Overall, I think this is a good, place to stay in Athens. The only downfall is that it is not walking distance from any significant points of interest. You must take a cab or walk several blocks to the Metro.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Check out Lekavitos Hill. It is a great place to view the sunset.

Location could be better

The atrium had nice rooms but for what I paid the rooms were adequate. The yoghurt for breakfast was spectacular but they need to do better with the coffee. I couldn’t drink it and I love coffee. Location was not ideal for a tourist wanting to experience Athens in a day before heading off to an island. Probably good for business activities.
