Old and Tired
This hotel is in need of renovation. The rooms are large, and the view is wonderful (the hotel is located on the top of a hill), but everything else is old and tired. On the plus side, the rooms were clean and large. But the biggest annoyance is: the hotel raises their rates when the local colleges have events. The rates are about 5X HIGHER on those nights! All for an old cheesy hotel!

Good for one night.
We have stayed at this motel once before about 4 years ago. We remembered it being maintained much better than it is now. It has a beautiful view as it is located at the crest of a very high hill. The lady that checked us in was friendly but not helpful. We inquired about the reception of the TV in our room (some of the stations were terrible). She acted like she had no idea what we were even talking about and mumbled something about the maintenance guy was not on the property. It was only one nights stay. I decided not to pursue it further. A decent place to stay for a night.

Roach, strong residual cig smoke aroma in non-smoking room
The strong smell of cigarette smoke residue greeted us when we entered our non-smoking room. There was no sign at the door or in the room, nor caution at check-in, about not smoking in the room. The ground outside the room was littered with shovel-fulls of cigarette butts. Within a few minutes after getting in the room, we saw a cockroach run under one of the beds. The management was unable to open another suitable room. Road noise from the interstate 200 away was distracting. Lots of signs about taking valuables from cars & hotel non-liability for thefts from vehicles. Staff were far from "customer service first." After a long phone call to set up a full refund (thanks, Expedia!), due to dissatisfaction, I found the hotel office door locked with no one answering the doorbell. The hotel security guard came up and took up the challenge, but the staff wouldnt acknowledge his 2-way radio calls to them. He pointed me to the emergency phone & told me what to dial. The staff finally came to their door so I could hand in my door key to check out. This was all during regular business hours. It was as if the staff were hiding from me, even though I was calm & polite.
