Great value
Le Jazz needs a little bit of maintenance, but we had a great time overall. We had a private room and bath. There was a leak in our room at one point, and judging by the stain on the ceiling it had been an issue before. Aside from that, which really didnt cause us any problems, the room was beautiful, as was the rest of the ho(s)tel. Great bagels in the AM.
Traveler's tip on dining
There is a great Tibetan restaurant next door to Le Jazz. Staff was very helpful and the food tasty and unique.

no more experiments.
Room was not clean, tv was not working, a coffee maker was not clean and used filter with dried out coffee in it was sitting there for long time, no cups were in the room. The plant was dying in the corner of the room, no one watered it. Building is very old and not good maintained. Sheets and towels were clean, mattress was comfortable, and the personal was friendly and helpful.

Exposed brick, lots of character
The Le Jazz St-Denis is a lovely little hotel. I stayed in two different rooms (different occasions) and both were spacious, with hardwood floors and walls of exposed stone and brick. Travelers should know that this is a basic hotel; you will have to carry your own suitcase up some very steep stairs. But, the climb is worth it; I like the hotel so much I plan to bring my wife soon for a romantic weekend in Montreal.
Traveler's tip on nightlife
The hotel is perfect for Latin Quarter nightlife; there are four bars across the street, and Rue St Denis is 100 feet away.
