A fine choice!
Excellent experience. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice accommodations (though small). Good buffet breakfast. Central location (two blocks from Colosseum and Forum). Strong recommendation.

good location
This hotel has a great location. A block walk to the colleseum and other historical sites.. Lots of shops and restaurants along the way. The room was clean, but very small. I was a bit disappointed with the staff as there was a taxi mixup, and we were treated rather rudly by staff. Once they realized we had not ordered this taxi. they kept telling us.. "we knew you were not lying.. "which was rather odd. The staff spoke very broken english so it was hard to communicate. overall I would recommend this hotel.

Great location, charming place
I really enjoyed my stay at the Duca dAlba, which is about a ten minute walk from the Colosseum and basically walking distance from everything else I wanted to visit in Rome. The room was small by American standards, but this is because Americans and Europeans view this question differently -- I was prepared. And I had a delightful balcony. Very nice breakfast buffet is served downstairs. Staff was friendly and helpful. Numerous restaurants in the area if you want to grab a bite to eat before turning in. My one complaint with my room was the heating/ cooling system -- when I came in, it would automatically turn on the AC, the next command on the remote turned on the heat, and the command after that would turn it off. Took me a couple days to figure out the variations. This is a minor quibble with a really nice place that I would certainly stay at again.
