Convenient AND nice
Couldnt have a better location.. steps from the old square and within walking distance to attractions and the major shopping streets as well. Also close to metro station if you want to travel further afield. For a great rate on Expedia, we had a suite-type room with one and a half baths. The rooms are comfortable and clean and came with breakfast which had a reasonable spread of warm and cold food with coffee+juice. The hotel is much smaller than I expected and therefore werent able to accommodate early check-in, so the guests are asked to leave the bags and return at two. This is the only inconvenience I had and I cant complain since the check-in time was clearly informed and I received an email ahead of time that early check-in couldnt be accommodated. Definitely recommend!

An excellent place to stay while in Prague
We spent four nights at the Iron Gate Hotel in Prague during early September 2009. The hotel staff were extremely helpful, spoke english and went out of their way to ensure that our stay was perfect. The hotel is a stones throw away from the town square and easy walking distance to key sights (i.e. Charles Bridge). We dined on a wonderful buffet breakfast each morning and truly enjoyed the clean and spacious room. We would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to staying there again in the future.

Not quite five stars but charming
Charming, quaint and enjoyable. Not a 5 star in NY or London but who cares in the old city part of Prague. One can walk to almost everything, cafes everywhere (which is good because hotel dining is its only minus...buffet breakfast was very limited with only fair service). There are no views from any of the rooms as all face courtyard. Best bet, get a suite! All things considered, still quite lovely as is this beautiful city.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Food seems to be the same everywhere...always higher near main attractions so dont be shy about the side street cafes and grocery stores (especially for water, soda, beer & snacks to go). Visit the main squares and bridges/river during both day and evening.
