Nice Hotel

This hotel was nice. It was about a 15 minute walk to the beach. The pool was nice to have on the grounds. We had dinner in the hotel one night when they had some local musicians and atmosphere was wonderful. It was a nice and quiet hotel. If you enjoy staying in the center of a city or town, this hotel is not for you. There was not a large selection of resturants or shops nearby. It was easy to get a train into Sorrento however, or you can walk there in about 30 mins.

So Glad We Stayed At Hotel Alpha

Hotel is set back from street on beautiful grounds. Very, very quiet. Rooms are spacious, clean, nicely furnished, with good amount of closet space.English speaking staff at reception desk was very helpful in arranging a wonderful tour of Pompeii/Vesuvius. Restaurant served a nice continental breakfast and absolutely superb dinners. Service in restaurant was flawless. Different dinner menu with multiple choices every night. Municipal bus and train service a short walk away. If you are doing Amalfi coast, this is a very nice place to stay and, given the price, quite a value.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

There’s a bar a nice long walk in the direction of Sorrento on same street as Hotel Alpha. If you don’t want to walk, it’s on bus route. Situated on a cliff overlooking Sorrento harbor, Capri, and Vesuvius. Nice sunsets.

Stay here!!

This is a beautiful hotel with a warm, friendly staff. The service is first-class. I usually don’t swim in hotel pools because even if they look clean I feel like they aren’t - this was an exception. I couldn’t wait to go for a swim after a long hot day of sightseeing - the pool was immaculate and inviting. The tiki bar by the pool is a nice touch with sevice at your lounge chair. The included full breakfast was very satisfying with your choice of eggs and American coffee seved to your table and sweet rolls, cereals, fruits, and even luncheon meats and cheese on the buffet. The room was large enough with a roomy bathroom and lovely balcony with a garden view. We didn’t have a view of the water or mountains but they are available. We took a bus into Sorrento every night - the stop is a short walk from the hotel. The only problem with the location is that the buses stop running around 11:30, and it’s a long walk back to Sant’Agnello from Sorrento - but we would come back and go to one of the nice sidewalk bars in Sant’Agnello before calling it a night. Of course you can always stay in later and get a cab but it will cost you. As long as they don’t raise their rates - this was a great value!!!!

Traveler's tip on dining

While in Sorrento, try the little restaurants on sidestreets off the main road. On the main street, Chaplan’s (Irish Pub)was a great little place to have a drink before or after dinner - They create an imprint of a shamrock in the foam on top of every Guinness draft - the owner will have you in stitches!
