Good Central Hotel, Great Service
Upon arrival our room was in disrepair and the hotel was overbooked, the staff offered us free breakfast for the length of our stay and a change of room the following day if the room was not to our standard. The damage was minor, but we moved anyway. The breakfast was good, location of hotel was good for wandering around the city and of course the beach, and for those evenings we wanted to just relax in room the hotel has DVD rental free of charge (w/a 10 Euro refundable deposit). All in all a pleasant stay.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
The hotel will call to organize umbrellas and chairs at the beach for you for a fee of 12 euro, however if you just go to the beach the cost was only 9. Save a few euro and just head to the beach yourself.

Excellent
The Amerigo is wonderful. Awesome location: 1 block from the Paseo and 2 blocks from the beach and 1 block from fabulous restaurants. It is located in an old monestery, so the ceilings are tall and architecture stunning. The rooms are very well designed and furnished. The staff was *very* helpful. We stayed for 8 days in June/July 2009. I highly recommend the Amerigo to anyone staying in Alicante.

One of the best hotels in Europe
Superb and modern hotel at the heart of Alicante. Great beds. I have never slept better in my entire life.
