Fine hotel, great location, three drawbacks noted.
Hotel is located on the river in the midst of some very good restaurants. Views from the river-facing rooms were excellent. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Rooms were clean and appeared to be well-maintained. Three drawbacks: 1) As with most smaller hotels, the bellman also works in the restaurant. If you check-in during meal service, expect little or no help with your luggage (and ALL the upper level, river-facing rooms have stair access only). 2) It was very warm during our stay. The rooms have no air conditioning (which is somewhat normal for the area), but the two small windows in the room opened only four inches - we cooked. 3) The hotel has no parking. If you have a car, you must use the local church parking lot approximately 2.5 blocks away. It was inexpensive, but not very convenient. On a cold day, with no car and only light hand luggage, expect a very pleasant stay.

charming Inverness
convenient to everything in this small but charming town, the Columba is a wonderful taste of old Inverness, renovated for comfort and convenience.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Inverness is all about golf and whiskey, with beautiful countryside in all directions (and the majestic LochNess only 15 minutes to the south). That said, if distilleries are a destination, check out the Mansion House (hotel) in Elgin 45 minutes east, sitting at the top of the "whiskey trail". Fantastic in all respects (the hotel and the distilleries!)
