beautiful retreat
This hotel was excellent. My husband and I went on our honeymoon to Bali for 9 days and spent 5 at the Taman Harum Cottages. The food is excellent, the lodging is beautiful, and the staff is very kind and inviting. Dont plan any of your excursions ahead of time, arrange them at the hotel itself and you will save a lot of money and they are more private instead of a big tourbus of tourists. Definitely take one day to explore Ubud town on your own, the shops are amazing. everywhere you go the locals are friendly and helpful and usually speak English since they all learn it in school.*Take cash, dont bother with credit cards*
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Ubud restaurant called Ibu Oka the most amazing roast pig. for a fancy 6 course dinner make reservations at Mosaic (mosa-eek).a 5star restaurant that only costs $150 for two w/a bottle of wine. One downfall when you go to the Holy Temples is when you exit the temple you have to go through a maze of vendors that hastle you to go into their shops. We just walked by and pretended to not speak English which worked. If youre "taking a look" they take it as youre going to buy so be careful.
