Felt Great

We needed a place to call "home" for four days. Someplace where it was easy to get on the freeway, find places to eat, entertainment and also feel comfortable. From my very late check in, where "Jeff" was more than helpful to the very last minute where we enjoyed a simple, yet tasty breakfast, we all said we would come back and/or send people there.. Thank-you.

They pulled a fast one....

I had reserved a room with two queen beds. At check-in I was told there was a "plumbing problem" with the room I had reserved so they substituted a room with a king and hideaway sofa bed. My daughter slept on the hideaway sofa that was lower than a normal bed and adjacent to the air conditioner. The cold air blew on her all night and the hideway was uncomfortable. The room was also adjacent to the elevator and stair. The walls were paper thin as noise from loud speaking "guests" who kept walking by our room all night woke us up. A lousy room location. I will never stay at this hotel or recommend it to any one. A Best Western disgrace.

Nice and quiet

Not quiet as nice as I expected, but it was clean, quiet, and within walking distance to just about everything. The front desk staff was friendly and accomodating. The beach is also very close by. My only complaint was that the bathtub stopper didn’t work and there was no "real" closet.

I would stay there again.

The room was clean and smelled fresh. The people that worked there were friendly and helpful. Every day there was a man there just cleaning up the outside area. It’s the little things that are appreciated. There’s easy access to the mall, restaurants and the beach is within walking distance.

decent stay for a couple of nights

I recommend this hotel for someone looking for a decent price, and a clean room in a safe area with good highway access. It is not in a resort area nor would I recommend it for vacationers.

Over Priced and Over Rated: Flea-bag hotel

Awful. The staff are nice but their niceness did not mitigate the fact that I had bugs (5 altogether, I counted! Fleas or ticks? I don’t know but when I swatted them it had red blood) on my bed. They offered to have my room changed the next morning but I thought if they clean extra well the next morning it would be better. Well late that night I saw one baby bug on my bed. We left the next day - didn’t use the extra night all paid for. We offered the room to someone else and they were willing to risk it so there.

Hotel room was clean and location was convenient for the trip I took. Would revisit when back in LA.

This hotel was the just right price/comfort level to not break the bank but still feel safe when I parked my car at night. I would definitely stay again.

Convenient

Very convenient location next to the mall, freeway, and beach. The room was large, the bed was very comfortable and we had a coffee maker and refrigerator. The free internet came in handy as well and the price was very reasonable!

The South Bay Galleria is less than a mile away so if you want a quick bite and a little exercise it’s an easy walk from this hotel.

Price is right

Nice central location and easy to get anywhere. The hotel staf was nice a courtious and willing service for anything.

Comfortable location and Good Service

This is a no nonsense hotel/motel for those looking for something safe, near shopping, beaches, etc... without spending a lot. It’s not upscale by any means, just good for sleeping, showering, relaxing. 5-7 min drive to beaches, around the corner from the big shopping mall.

Would definitely stay there again!

The hotel worked out perfectly for my needs. The location was great. The continental breakfast that was included was the best.

Not impressed

The rooms were very clean and fairly comfortable, but that is the best that can be said about this hotel. The night and the day clerk had absolutely no personality and the little they did bordered on rude. Even though my business conference was within walking distance of the hotel, I would not stay here again.

Terrific Value just outside of LA

I had read the reviews here carefully and chose this hotel based on them. I was not disappointed! I feel we got an excellent value at a reasonable price. The room was perfectly clean (we even checked behind the nightstand and it had been vaccuumed!), the bathroom was spotless. Not one complaint in that area. The beds were comfortable, the TV worked! The staff was extremely helpful, giving me beach recommendations and directions in a friendly and courteous manner. We missed the breakfast both mornings so I can’t comment on that, but the area was decent with a mall in walking distance and many dining options, including a couple of Starbucks close by. Close to the highway for the trips we made into the city and easy to find. The only *tiny* complaint I could make is the the sheets, while freshly laundered, were worn to the point of tiny little holes in them. Those could be replaced. As someone who travels a lot and who has been mortified by hotels booked online before, I can honestly say that I WILL stay here again and can recommend it without reservation to the business or leisure traveller with a budget.

Fans of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" can visit Torrance High School, right down the road, on the weekend for photo ops at this actual location for outdoor shooting at "Sunnydale High"

Very good value, great location

This hotel is located very close to some excellent beaches. My ratings would seem harsh because this actually is a very nice hotel but the jacuzzi was out of order, and we did not have hot water in our room. They offered to send a gift card to make up for it but that never happened. Our room was very clean but there was a wad of chewing gum stuck to the headboard, everything else was fine other than a very cold shower the next morning. I think we just caught them on a bad day because we would definitely stay again.

don’t trust automatic wake up call

Slide switch on the clock radio was broken so I was unable to set the alarm for early morning appointments. Used the wakeup call procedure described on the phone (dial 2 then 77). Got a computerized confirmation of the time of the wake up call. But no call! Missed my first appointments. complained to the desk clerk who informed me that I should always call the desk and speak to someone in person. He made no effort to check the system however - so be warned!

Would return, forget the hot tub.

We stayed her after a few days of business in another location. The staff was EXCELLENT. The room was cleaner that the higher-end hotel we were just at. The n’bhood wasn’t a concern as we drove everywhere. Great access (2-4 miles) to the beach areas. Hot tub never warmed up. Would stay here again.

Convenient, Quiet, Peaceful , Just right

The rooms wre clean, and the brds wre comfortable. Tha atmosphere outside was peaceful and we were lucky enough to stay on a night that the outside air was delightful. The staff was pleasant and friendly, and helpful with any questions. All and all This was one of my better hotel stays and I would recommend it to any of muy friends. Even the picky ones.

Adequate hotel, clean and quiet

Our room was at the rear and we kept the window open all night and was completely quiet. Nice to have a microwave and refrigerator in the room.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

We took the subway from a stop near the hotel. We found out you are supposed to pay for each line you get on but you can get a day pass for $5.00 or much less if you are retired. Rode all the way up to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and home after, got back around 11 PM. Saved driving at night and needing to find parking.
