Excellent Location!
This Pousada was in an excellent location, and the staff were very helpful. The only negative comment I have is that we requested a double bed, and they only had twins available in a room that was near the breakfast area and somewhat noisy.

Well worth a stop on a driving tour
The hotel staff was very helpful at check-in and provided excellent help with parking. The rooms were comfortable and some of us appreciated the pool after a hot day. The restaurant was unremarkable and pricy. This hotel was one of our favorites, possibly because of its charm and history.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
We stopped at Evora to visit the Cave of Escoural but could not find anyone at the cave or at the interpretive center. And, no one ever answered the phone.

Not quite as expected
This pousada is rated as one of the 1000 places to see before you die, according to the book. Its not quite up to that, but it deserves more than its two star rating on Expedia also. The building itself in all its public areas is charming, charming, charming. Theres a nice pool. The bedrooms are nothing like whats depicted. On the up side, they are converted convent cells, and theres a kick to be had out of that. On the down side, they are small and smell of mildew, painted lime green and decorated with white wooden furniture.
