Happy I went there
After booking my room, then reading some more reviews, I had some fears that I wouldn’t be happy with the room. It’s true that the decor of the room was a bit dated, and don’t stay here if your are expecting a luxury hotel. But I was very much satisfied with the accommodations. The plants and trees around the hotel are very pretty and give the place a nice ambiance. There is a little balcony with a few comfortable chairs and a table where we had coffee in the morning overlooking the Pacific. I think room 222 is a special room that might be a suite and definitely has an ocean view. Unless you spend a lot more for a room with a view of the ocean, the point of Laguna is not to stay in the room. We spent a good deal of time during the weekend across the street at the Montage. We ate a fantastic dinner there Friday night, late drinks in the piano bar, and had a couples massage Saturday afternoon. Sunday morning we went down to the beach, which is scenic, filled with tide pools, lots of sand, and not crowded. I didn’t experience any problems with the staff that previous reviewers complained about. It was a very enjoyable stay.

great location, a bit outdated but overall if you can get a good deal on the price, it’s worth it.
