Best Western Castillo Del Sol

Loved the easy acess to the beach!

We liked the underground parking. The rooms were clean and the location was good.

It was a wonderful to rest and relax.

In the afternoons there is a private balcony on the second floor,to sun at that I used and it was quiet and secluded, not a single person bothered me the two afternoons I used it. It was fabulous!

Hotel in a good location, near restaurants, activities & shopping. Staff not overly friendly. Awesome pool area. Airconditioner extremely annoying. Comfortable bed but the sheets won’t stay on.

Look for coupons. Daytona speedway very interesting, don’t miss the lighthouse-great place for a picnic.

Great Customer Service

Upon check-in very nice front desk service and clean grounds. Upgraded to beach side (didn’t ask). Everything has been upgraded since I was there in the 90’s. 4-Star or better. Nice surprise.

Very pleased

For a mid range priced hotel it was awesome, staff was great and always helpful, rooms were clean and maintained, the view is awesome and with beach access. We had a apartment size kitchen so we only ate out once. When we go back we will stay there again. I almost took this trip by myself, but was concerned about feeling safe, I would stay there with no problems.

Walmart is 4 miles off the beach ask for directions, to save on groceries, the publix was great but a little pricey, We went down to see Ponce Inlet Light House it was great and only 5 dollars to get in.

The customer service was really terrible. Never in my life have I experienced such poor service.

We didn’t get the room that was reserved and the hotel clerks told us that there was nothing they could do about it. Not only did I have a problem at check-in but also at check-out. Do not recommend this hotel for anyone.

Would definitely stay there again.

All of the employees and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We rented a motorcycle during our stay and had to make sure it was secure when we weren’t riding. The staff was very helpful in telling us where to park it in the parking garage near security cameras. They were also very knowledgeable regarding the nearby restaurants and very helpful getting taxi cabs. There was always someone at the front desk. We highly recommend this hotel.

Loved the covered parking deck!!

This hotel features a covered parking deck with entrance from the street that is gated. There is an elevator available to take you up to your room. I never worried about my vehicle during my entire stay!

There is an entrance ramp down to the beach at the first traffic light after you leave the hotel. Love crusin on the beach in my ride.

Ormond beach’s Best Hotel

The room was wonderfully large and beautiful. The beds were comfortable. The view was great. We love this hotel =]

Hotel room spacious, beautiful, clean. Great location, close to everything, but not TOO close to anything. RIght on the beach. would and will definatelly stay there again.

The location was great right on the beach. The room was large, clean and very comfortable. Other guests we met were equally happy with this choice of a motel.

having an efficency saves money on expensive breakfasts. Next time we will take more food with us knowing all the room has to offer

Nice Place

This was a nice Hotel, Rooms were clean, carpet looked new. We had a effecience and it was a decent size. I would like to of had a lounge and a game room for my child since two of the days we were there it rained. The pool and pool area was cleaned every morning because we would watch off of our balcony. We would go back to this hotel anytime.

Bring cards and games in case you get rained out.

Wonderful vacation choice, can’t wait to return!

This made our 18th yr. staying at Castillo Del Sol formerly known as the Ivanhoe. All of the improvements were fabulous & our family can’t wait until next year. In the past, three other families vacationed with us, but haven’t had the opportunity to do so in several years. After our return from our vacation this yr. telling everyone about the exciting renovations, etc. everyone has promised to schedule vacation together next year for a wonderful family vacation. Please keep the prices affordable for families. This was our first time to make reservations through Expedia & it was a great experience. Can’t wait to return!!

Great value

Great place, rooms are spacious, and have a full size fridge. Only downside is parking, they ran out of spaces to park one night, but the staff was nice enough to tell me where to park. Would definitely stay there again.

impressed will saty there again!

Location is great and easy access from I-95. View from the larger trhan expected room is spectacular, we left the curtains opan to be woken by the sounds of the sea and view of the ocean. Room had great kitchenette so breakfast was cheap and quick pool is right on the beach so the best of both worlds. will stay there again if in Daytona.

Wonderful Stay

We were in town for 5 days and it was wonderful. The beach were the hotel is situated is very clean and the rooms were very comfortable and large in size for the money.

Great Hotel

I was greatly impressed. It was nice that after we got into our room we received a phone call asking if everything in our room was alright. That told me right there that customer satisfaction was a goal. I did have trouble finding a cart to carry our things down when we wanted to check out. But, I enjoyed it and will probably use every time I go to the beach.

Very relaxing and rooms were huge! Beds were comfortable only thing they need are microwaves.

renovation was definitely a success

Hotel was recently renovated and they upgrades were very noticable. Great location and good restaurants close by.

Very good and clean hotel

Had good time. Hotel in good location . Had a hot water problem . Sent maintenance right up but couldn’t fix. Asked for another room and it was quickly provided . Would stay there again.

Enjoyed our stay

We stayed over Father’s day weekend. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Grounds and facility well kept. Staff very friendly and accomodating. On Father’s Day, staff went out of thier way to wish all fathers a good day! Nice pool area, right on the beach. They also had a shaded lounge area for those who wanted the view and wind, w/o the sun. Fire pit near pool nice at night. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. We stayed in an efficiency unit. Only complaint is 2 queen beds. No king units available. If your looking for a moderately priced motel near Daytona Beach w/o the hassles, try this one!

Try Bonefish restaurant nearby. Great food and service. Also go by Publix grocery store to check seafood specials. We got King Crab for $6.99 a lb. Had a feast!

Just an average hotel

The Best Western in Ormond was OK. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable...not much of a view of the ocean from the balcony. The pool area was spacious and some of the lounging area was always shaded (which is good thing). The pool itself was a little dirty...of course the hotel is on the beach so you will get sand in the pool, but just needed cleaned more often. The washer and dryer were out of service so we had to take our clothes to a laundry mat. The shower took to 10 minutes to warm up. The service from the people was just OK...not terrible, but certainly not enough to make me want to come back.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Ormond Beach is a very nice alternative to the tourism of Daytona Beach. You are still very close to Daytona if you want to visit (10 minutes) but you still have all of the stores and restaurants in Ormond without the hustle and bustle of Daytona. I recommend Rachel’s Shoes and Bags on Granada Blvd (hwy 40) which is about 4 blocks from the hotel. The Outback Steakhouse is good there, too.

Pleasently Surprised

We were pleasently surprised by the cleaniness, comfort and appearance of our room. The only issue we had with it was the balcony. We have small children and one could very easily slip right through, the openings are way to large!

Great honeymoon gift!

My niece recently got married in Ormond Beach. As a wedding gift, my husband and I paid for her hotel stay. The hotel itself looked recently remodeled...the outside was very nice. My niece’s room was a "standard," however, it had everything a 23 year old newlywed would want. It was clean, nice linens, a small kitchenette, and the view to the beach was fabulous. We would recommend the Castillo to any traveler. It is a solid 3 star hotel...good value for the money. There are comparable hotels on line, however, this one lived up to our expectations. In fact, this was a last minute switch on our part. We had initially booked our niece at the Maverick, which was rated very high on line. The Castillo was on our list, but the Maverick had great reviews. However, upon our arrival, we took one look at the place, had a horrible experience with customer service, and immediately called Expedia to switch to the Castillo!

For cost sensitive travelers, the Castillo has small kitchenettes, which are great...especially for preparing your own breakfast and lunch. Spend your dollars on dinners out in the evening!
