"Paradise"
I had my wife choose the hotel because I know how picky she is and I told her I didnt want to see anything. When we got to the hotel, I was very impressed. My wife made an excellent choice. We had a wonderful time. I told I wanted to relax and we did just that. The landscaping and scenery was just great. Our room was very comfortable and the weather was unbelieveable. We plan on making reservations again next year.
We traveled to Punta Cana at the end of October which is the best time to go because you dont have to worry about a lot of people and you can really enjoy everything.

CANT WAIT TO RETURN
This was the third time my husband and I visited the Ocean Blue. As always it was great good food,great drinks and a fabulous staff. My maid keeped our clean and always fully stocked, tip them they work really hard when you do they are really gratful. We visited from the 19th of september until the 25th. Beach chairs were plentyful and the bars werent ever overcrowded. We had the best time the shows are good the buffet had something for everyone. Our favorite resturant is the dominican . Overall if you want to relax, eat , drink and be merry this is the place to do it at.

Bargain at the shops on the beach you can usually get atleast half of the first price you are quoted.

Really Beautiful Hotel
A girlfriend and I visited the Ocean Blue for 9 days in July. We were very impressed with the property - unbelievably well maintained and very clean. The pools were AWESOME and the beach looked like it was out of a postcard. The major con: the food. One of us is the least picky eater ever and we both agreed we wouldnt return to this hotel due to food alone. All inclusives usually arent great with food, and we realize that, but if youre at all picky, I wouldnt stay here. They also dont have real Orange juice - its tang - which makes some drinks taste funny. Small detail but we werent satisfied with drinks like mimosas, bahama mamas, etc. The vendors are incredibly pushy and will try and touch you if youre female. Makes you not want to buy anything but we did get a few souvenirs. Make sure to Haggle! They ask ridiculous prices for some of their stuff. The music is a tad annoying (only plays in the morning and at night) when youre trying to relax and the base is pumping at full throttle. I would recommend moving down the beach a ways. We had great service - and yes, they do appreciate you trying to speak a little spanish and it may get you a little further, so buy an english-spanish book before you go. Overall, great stay! Would go back if they improved their food significantly.

Do the Outback Safari Tour. It made our trip. So amazing and you see how the Dominicans really live. Also, some of the money goes to the local community so its for a great cause and its a ton of fun. Ask for Alex. Bring plenty of ones for tipping. The staff definitely appreciates it but doesnt expect it.

This was an amazing hotel!
Everything in this resort was great. The food was much better than other all inclusives I have been to. The service was great, the staff very friendly and helpful. The entertainment was good enough to be on Broadway. My only complaint was that the air conditioning was not at the level it should have been.

Very satisfied with this hotel and its overall service, specially the food. Friendly staff and wonderful environment. Excellent entertainment/shows at night, very professional dancers.

Take your time while shopping by the beach. Dont let the aggressive vendors intimidate you. You can bargain for good prices if you take your time "window shopping" first.

Disappointment
We arrived to the hotel at 4:00pm and checkin worked out fine. They told us that our luggage was going to be delivered to our rooms inmediately but in fact we had to wait for over an hour!! When we got to our room, the Air Conditioning was not working properly (It failed to cool). We reported the problem to the front desk and they sent a maintenance man who looked it over for a couple of minutes and said it was fixed. Two hours later we realized it was in fact still damaged. We finally got a room change at about 10pm at night after we personally went to the lobby (10 minute walk from our room) since after the first AC Check they ignored our further phone calls. On the plus side, the food is excellent. The beach is beautiful. The pool is great, although it is hard to get a drink from the bars near the pool.

Upgrade not worth it
Me and my wife were on our honeymoon during this stay. When we first arrived at the hotel it was very confusing as to where the check in was. You basically walk into the lobby bar and there was no obvious way to figure out where the check in counter was. After finding in we walked up to the counter where we were not greeted by anyone and the two employees behind it didnt even acknowledge us. All we got was, "Wait just one sec" while they were dealing with some paperwork. After that we were given two different amounts of the price to upgrade to the honeymoon suite. We wanted to check it out, so we were directed to go to the room and were told that someone would greet us there, obviously know one was there when we arrived. Room service was very inconsistent where they would change our towels and make that bed some days or just make the bed other. Very disappointing. Ive been to DR on several occasion to many different hotels, this one had the least staff that spoke English. We always had to ask if they spoke English enough to help us out if we had questions. The buffet was great, but dont waste your time or in the 2 for pay restaurants your money to go there, food and service are no good. Overall this has to be my least favorite hotel that I have visited while in DR

Outstanding Resort for the Money
Very nice resort with comfortable junior suites. Drinks were very good with good top shelf selection. Great variety of food with distinct authentic flavors. Only suggestion would be to organize activities a little better. For the price, this is the best resort Ive stayed to date.
For those ultra sensitive, there were plenty topless women. It was very professional, and if you teach your child with an open mind it should be fine.

Not impressed
They kept me and my son in a room without any air condition only with a ceiling fan for 4 days even do I call them to report the problem 15 times the men that were sent to fix the problem told me that the AC was broken and the small refrigerator was broken too. it was a bad experience for us I wont go back to this hotel.

nice and easy
We were 14 days in this hotel with "all inclusive" and had a very good room (turns out to be one of the best). The beach is perfect, food is good, service also. Staff is thankfull for tips. Perfect vacations for leasure , recreation, but you can also do a lot of sports activities + golf. Very nice for families. I would recomend it for others.
Beach and pool very nice. Try the banana boat and the bungy trampoline.

My third stay
My family & friends and I (10 of us in all) spent a week in early August 2009 and found the staff friendly and most spoke english, they may not be fluent but they get by to assist in any way they can. The Annimation team is friendly as well and really tries to get you to participate. The rooms need some updating but it did not mess with our vacation because we did not spend too much time in it. We always had lots of singles to tip. We felt the level of customer service didnt sway depending on being tipped or not, we felt they always provided great service with or without being tipped. I lost an earring on my third day and my husband reported it to customer service. I thought it was lost for good, we went by periodically and was told each day that it was not brought in. On our last day prior to our departure to the airport, my husband checked one last time and they had it. This made the trip memorable and would not hesitate to recomend this to anyone interested in vacationing here!

My family, friends and I appreciated the buffet much better than the restaurants. Since there were so many of us, and we always chose to dine together this seemed to be better for us with the many different choices the buffet provided. The dining staff always made available tables to seat us all very quickly. Found the buffet food to be very plentiful and tasty.

One of the best places in DR
I have visited many hotels in DR this is by far one of the best. Ocean blue offers quality drinks, excellent food, just to mentioned a few, caviar, smoked salmon and champagne during breakfast. The service at La Casa de Mi Abuela Restaurant was impresive. Argenis is very funny and pleasant with everyone. Just one recommendation, we drove from Sto, Domingo; it was impossible to find Ocean Blue. the entrance must be improve. I will certainly visit again. We are planning to go back in February 2010

vacation from hell
staff werent interested unless you spoke spanish, we all suffered from food poisoning a family of 4 with my son being admitted to the local hospital, out side vendors harassed our teenage children to sell their Ipods and sell them drugs, and we had to report it to security but we felt as though we were in danger for physical harm and continually watched our backs and children. the music was way too loud and started at 8am poolside and finnished at 5pm poolside. the puerto ricans were also guests in this hotel and they dont seem to be able to speak to each other and were continually yelling to each other- accross the pool, across the resturants, in the bars and had no discipline for their screaming kids The grounds were absolutely beautiful and it was clean. the ocean was a joy to swim in and experience. This is not an all inclusive hotel as there a restaurants that require extra charges in some of their restaurants
dont go. for a country that runs on pesos and charges in US dollars there seems to be a huge discrepancy in who gets the money. Staff seem to resent the fact that people have US dollars and that you dont speak english. worst vacation we have ever had and will never go to The dominican republic ever again. actually we will never again go to any south american countries again as this trip gave us, my family, a really bad taste of someone elses culture. Beware and take care

Wouldnt go back
The first thing was that we didnt get our room until 2 hours after the check in. Then we went to our room, which had broken furniture, the bathroom was dirty, there were no towels and the toilet was running and later I found out that there was a leak on the bathrooms ceiling. I asked for a new room and they changed it ad it was a little bit cleaner. The room never got cleaned, made reservations for one of the specialty restaurants and when we got there they didnt have anything under my name. Tried going to a different restaurant and the lady was really rude and stopped us at the door saying she was expecting a group of 40 foreigners in half hour and they couldnt help us. Really bad customer service, wouldnt go back!

Could be Better
Me and my family (party of 6). had very high expectations regarding Ocean Blue. We selected the upgrade to Privilege Area. When we arrive the hotel, we were hosted in a a private area. All details were given as to hotel services and Privilege area services. Good upo to there. The only unpleasent situaation was that after having to drive for 4 hours to get to punta cana, we had to wait for close to an hour to get to our rooms, since the hotel only had one train with 2 cars runing, and the hotel was occupied in full. Our rooms were by the beach area, a bit far from reception area. We asked our concierge if the bell boy could take us to our room toghether with our luggage, but the answer was that we had to wait for the train. We all were very surprised to find that this service was not part of the Proivilege upgrade. Our suprise is because we ( the family) come to punta cana at least 2 tmes a year and select upgraded services for our stays.......and always, unpon check in, we ave been driven to our rooms by concierge; not having to wait long periods for the regular transportation. having to wait.

Great Resort
The Ocean Blue and Sand (change of name) resort was terrific! The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating and did everything to make our stay relaxing. Most of the staff spoke English to some degree, or at least they tried to do so, but a working knowledge of Spanish is always a plus. The food in the buffets was excellent, and the specialty restaurants were also delicious. The On-site water excursion office (scuba diving, para-sailing) was very professional and knowledgable, and both trips were enjoyed by my children.

Dont fear taking a cab to the hotel--faster and more reasonable than the bus. Be sure to have enough cash for excursions as local vendors require US$ only.

So So
At first we were given a room with 2 double beds instead of the king. We did receive the king bedded room by 5pm the next day. The staff at the hotel were not as friendly as expected. The rooms will not get cleaned until about 4pm. The pool water was hott!! It felt like a warm bath rather than refreshing. The food was excellent and the shows were good. The disco had very good music. The premises were big. We loved Mikes Coffee Shop.

The ziplining was very exciting plus we got to see a lot of the city. Its fun to get out of the resort once in a while. Be careful with the shops on the beach. Make sure you BARGAIN. They will start out with an outrageous price to see if your willing to pay. It was ridiculous.

Fabulous place to vacation!
The hotel was one of the nicest hotels in Punta Cana in my opinion. Our room was very clean and we loved the jacuzzi tub. The furniture was new and clean. The only unfortunate thing was the AC did not work so well in our room. The resort itself was gorgeous and overall very clean and maintained. The staff was friendly, especially the bar staff! We were very accessible to the beach and water sports and the cabanas on the beach gave us a break from the sun. There is a shopping market on the beach about 200 ft from the resort, which was very convenient. We frequented the buffets because of the selections. The Italian restaurant and the buffets were our favorite. Most of the buildings are open but the resort does need fans! Overall we had a wonderful experience and I would suggest at least getting the deluxe jr suite. There is plenty to do at this resort for a family or a couple.

I would highly suggest swimming with the sting rays and nurse shark. That was an incredible experience and something my boyfriend and I will never forget. Reef Explorer is the name of the excursion. The food on the island could have been better but the experience was well worth it!

Very pleasant stay in Punta Cana! Highly Recommended!
My mother, sister and I stayed at the Ocean Blue resort the first week in June, 2009. The hotel decor was beautiful, we especially enjoyed the lobby bar after the nightly show! The grounds were very well-maintained and the very hard-working staff were pleasant to be around. We were amazed by the size of the beach (very deep) and how beautiful the water and sand were. We were impressed by the demographics of visitors: some americans, some europeans and mostly spanish speaking guests. The food was good for the most part, tons of options which I think would be hard to find in any other all-inclusive. We ate at the authentic Dominican restaurant twice it was so good, also enjoyed the italian and the cofee shop. The buffets were good and we could always find something there to eat. Hotel was right next to huts on the beach for shopping. Only negative was that our room view was the back of another resort and some sort of service road. We asked for another and the reception desk said the rooms were full. We got over the room situation quick as we realized we were not in our room often enough to let it ruin the trip.

We did a snorkeling excursion with sting-rays and sharks that we really enjoyed. Go in the morning to avoid late-afternoon/evening showers. Snorkeling, drinking, lounging, and dancing for 3 hours! It was definitely worth the price!

Wedding Guest
Little to no air conditioning. No hot water for 2/4 days. Open stairways that were flooded din the rain (no elevator) Very poor attention to above inconvenience. We attended a wedding at the facility which was fun and overall had a pleasant trip

Great vacation!!
My boyfriend and I just returned from our vacation to Punta Cana, D.R. and we wanted to stay another week. The staff is very friendly and everyone speaks enough English to be able to communicate with the guests. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and very well maintained. The resort is beautiful because its like a "village", Im glad they have a small shuttle that goes around the entire resort all day and all night. The only thing we were not completely satisfied with was the food, we got tired of it by the third day, but in a way we were glad because that way we didnt over eat. I do recommend to book your water sports activities with the guys that are at the beach, if you book it through the agents in the lobby you will be paying double.

Cant wait to return, more than expected
This was my first time doing an all inclusive resort as well as my first time going to the Dominican Republic. Happy to say that I was pleasantly pleased on both accounts. The staff was wonderful, the resort and locale were beautiful and tranquil, and our room was clean and comfy. I recommend that you carry the Welcome pamphlet around with you during the day so that youre aware of the hours for the lunch and snack buffets, otherwise, you might be stuck eating bits of leftovers or nothing at all. While the food was good, Im a big fruit eater and was somewhat disappointed with the lack of variety available. However there is a wide assorment of choices to choose from for dinner. Try to visit a different restaurant each night and make sure that you check the pamphlet about dress codes before heading out! By far, the best restuarant was Carribean Grill, located right by the beach. Sorry to say that it was the place we ate at the last night we were there, otherwise we wouldve eaten there every single night. They also seemed to have the best variety of food for lunch and snacks[Note: its called something else during the day]. All in all, we had an absolutely wonderful time and cant wait to go back in August. Highly recommend you go! Great for couples and family friendly.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
Opt-out of using the shuttle to and from the hotel, youre better off getting a cab. The shuttle tends to make frequent stops and was pricy. Please make sure to bring sunblock and/or toiletrees, dont count on buying any there because it is CRAZY expensive at the little "convience" store. I had to buy some sunblock and was astounded; it was about 6 times the cost of back home!!!
