Ill miss the staff.
When I think of this hotel I think of the staff who were the most friendly and accommodating of any hotel I have ever stayed. When I say that, I have stayed in some of the most expensive hotels around, but they dont compare with the great staff at this one. I can only say is I will miss them and also the cat, dog and the daily visits from the egret who came to get cheese twice daily. As for the hotel, it is a very cozy hotel. Not a large one, but it was comfortable and very well located on the Amstel Canal. Their breakfast was delicious. We were allowed make our own omelettes to our liking. But of course if you didnt want to make your own eggs, they would be happy to do it for you. We had a couple of warm days and our room was a little warm. A ceiling fan would have been nice or a little air-condtioning. Over all if we were to return, we would return to the Amsterdam House Hotel Eureka.

wonderfully located small hotel
this hotel was a nice find in the center of amsterdam. while the rooms were small they were comfortable and airy and always cleaned up by the time we came back from our excursions. the hotel staff was friendly and always helpful with suggestions about the city. it was well worth getting breakfast every morning...it left us full and ready to attack the day. making my own omelet was an added treat and the coffee was fabulous. all in all a great place to be.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
we were close enough to all the sights and places to eat. a market nearby and many brown cafes for a beer and some sate. an easy walk to central station and just as easy to the museums. the hotel in on the amstel river with canals on either side. quite charming.

Excellent Location
The location of the hotel on the Amstel river was excellent. It was close to all the major attractions in a simply lovely spot. The owner, Will, was friendly, helpful and welcoming. Our room was very small and dated but the bathroom was a decent size with a good shower. It was a great value. The standard room did not have a view so spring for a canel room.
Traveler's tip on dining
The breakfast at the hotel is wonderful, served in a charming setting. The Indonesian food is not to be missed- there is an excellent one on Utrechtstraat. The Dutch pancakes we had at a nearby restaurant were also wonderful
