Warm and Friendly Service
If you are interested in the Roman ruins and happen to end up staying at the Campanile Nimes Mas Carbonnel(CNMC), you are in for a treat! My friends and I stayed here on our world wind tour of France. CNMC is located away from the city center, where all the tourist attractions are, but dont let that fool you. Every place in Nimes is a short walk away. From CNMC to the arena was only 15 minutes. CNMC from the train station was 10 minutes. We chose the CNMC because it was fairly inexpensive, but I was really surprised by the warmth and eagerness of the staff to help us. We stayed in Nimes at CNMC for three days. The first day there was an English speaking person at the front desk, but for the next too days I found only French speaking staff early in the morning. However, with the limited French at my disposal, I was able to ask them to book reservations for me at the Pont du Gard to go canoing. They were also very helpful in obtaining information on schedules of trains and buses for the area. You can also obtain this information at the train station or tourism office. But it was nice to know that the staff at the hotel were more than willing to help you look these things up, especially if you spoke very little French.
