Best Vacation Ever
We spent five days at Koyao Island Resort as a diversion from a business trip and it was fabulous to say the least. The resort has 15 rooms that open up to the most amazing ocean views. We were looking for a getaway that would allow us to escape the grid and reboot from our busy lives. The friendly and helpful staff, great food, spa treatments and amazing accomodations were way more than we imagined. We also enjoyed biking the island and seeing the locals, the rubber trees and rice paddies. Definitely gets you in touch with life in off-the-beaten-path Thailand. Great people.
Traveler's tip on recreational activities
One thing they don’t advertise is that they can arrange a wide number of excursions that leave directly from the beach for diving or other activities. I would do that as opposed to booking excursions that leave from Phuket as it is a one hour boat ride to get to Phuket.

Idyllic and Luxurious
Koyao offers the best form of luxury. There are only a handful of bungalows so you see only a few faces all day. It’s quiet even though I noticed a few babies. The babies weren’t cranky. Neither were any of the guests because they were treated to a rare luxury: a sanctuary gracefully integrated into the landscape at the foot of a private beach...somehow the the lack of AC (and TV) is a blessing...although the mosquito netted bed wasn’t wholly effective on one night. Delicious breakfast. Gracious staff. Friendly guests. Perfect retreat.
