Cute hotel, be careful at checkout
This is a small hotel with very friendly, charming staff. We were pretty happy with it until checkout, when it turned out that we were getting charged an extra 40CHF (pretty much $40 USD) per night, for no apparent reason. They also charge taxes on checkout, but for us that was only 5CHF, the other 40CHF was a big surprise.

Great in Zurich
This hotel was more than we expected. Location is convenient for walking or the tram. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Excellent restaurants nearby, as are major attractions. Room and breakfast were first class.

What a Terrific Location
After a full day of travel crossing the Atlantic, arriving at this gem of a hotel was a breeze. The location, in the heart of the "old quarter" of Zurich, would be hard to beat. Restaurants, shops, museums, trams, and boats are right outside the door. The staff was always helpful and enthusiastic about helping. Breakfast was bountiful with an array of choices. The room was sparkling and "Swiss-like" furnished. My wife and I wold return here in a heartbeat.
Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks
By all means take the train from the airport to the main train station and then the tram (#4 or #15) which goes to the door of the hotel. My wife and I spent $40 on the airport shuttle and it was a big waste.

Wonderful hotel experience!
I really enjoyed the Helmhaus hotel. The hotel employees were very nice and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was fresh and delicious, and the location couldn’t be better if you are interested in walking around the historic part of Zurich.

A Swiss Gem
The attemtion the needs of the customer started before check-in, as I was offered a steaming bowl of winter punch with brandy at the lobby. Breakfast has real darjeeling tea in real japanese cast iron tea pots, and eveything else. Art is everywhere and the corridors are cheeful. In the center of the old city, noise from the street will come in when the windows are open, but this is true of any hotel in the old pedestrian area.
Traveler's tip on dining
Dine a the Zeughauskeeler, just accross the river at Paradeplatz. Worth the trip.

Great boutique hotel.
Stayed there 20 years ago before the renovations so had to go back to see whats changed. Very modern now - everythings changed except the service and the lift (2 people if you are lucky). Great service, very friendly, would definately go back!

An Excellent Hotel with Exceptional Staff
There is everything to like and nothing to dislike about the Helmhaus Hotel in Zurich. It is within easy walking distance to places of interest, offers great comfort, and is especially noteworthy because of the friendly and helpful staff who are willing to assist guests with everything from tram tickets to weather reports for nearby cities.

A Jewel
Right in the middle of downtown Zurich, next to a charming square and many excellent and varied priced restaurants. We were able to walk nearly everywhere. The staff was extremely friendly, and the continental breakfast -- which comes with the room -- is more like a complete meal. I would definitely stay again.

Nice hotel in fantastic location
Staff is very friendly and customer oriented. Rooms are clean, but little small - I stayed in single room. However, location compensate everything! Opera is 10 minutes away, the lake is near by....once you outdoor, you don’t want to go back , because Zurich is charming and so human-friendly! Breakfast at the hotel has variety of yougurts, cheese, shinka (meat), breads, ceral, good coffeee and fresh squeezed jucies. Breakfast room is clean and neat. Guests don’t speak loud. Good manners everywhere! I wish they carpeted the hallway areas... Will stay there again.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Restaurants are very expensive. You can buy sandwiches from local delis or salads and water from CO-OP supermarket. It will save you $$$ if you take train from Airport to Main Station and hope on #4 tram to HelmHous stop. IT’s little tricky to find the hotel which is not far from MusikHug store. Public transport is excellent! Be very punctual!
