Hasnt been renovated since 1956
I travel very frequently, however I have never seen anything like this. We had a rotary phone in our room. Our television was incredibly small. The shower spilled water everywhere and it would not drain. The bed linen was from the 1960s. The slide at the pool was rusty. It cost 5 euro to play ping pong at the pool. They charge more than any other hotel Ive been to for internet use. You must turn in your giant key at the front desk before leaving for the day. And so on. The furniture was from the 50s or 60s..and the pictures on the proper website for this hotel are original pictures taken during that time frame and do not accurately represent fifty years of wear and tear. Typically at these types of older hotels, if they are four star rated places, the front desk is very courteous and helpful. I found at least two of the front desk employees to be abrupt and unhelpful when I asked for very minimal requests such as my passport back (they kept it for two days) or a taxi, etc. I must mention that the maids at this hotel work very hard...several times I noticed the quality of the job that they do, however it is a lost cause, this place is a dump and is in bad need of a renovation. The hotel is in a good location, however so are many other, better, less expensive establishments.
Traveler's tip on dining
There is a wonderful seafood restaurant--interior is white, tablecloths white as well right down the street by the marina. I do not recall the name, but it is easy to find. The food is phenominal there.

Clean, heated pool, great breakfast
Selected hotel on bases of proximity to Portofino (2km). Hotel had on-site parking, nice dining room/patio-pool area on 2nd floor. Breakfast was full American-type breakfast. Room was "garden view" i.e., no view, but who cares. Room was clean but spartan, bath was ultra clean and modern, all marble and very nice. Hotel had a special 15 euro dinner deal which we did not avail ourselves. Highly recommend this hotel.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Not on water but within a block. Could view harbor if had a front balcony room. Close to harbor ferry to Portofino
