Roc Hotel Flamingo

Not Impressed at all

Hotel could do with a big makeover. clean but grubby looking. Check-in smooth, receptionist courteous and professional. Our room, always smelt foisty, even when just cleaned. Pool area very small, could be very, crowded in the height of summer. Restaurant, looked ok, nicely set out, staff kept it clean and clutter free. Food, we were all inclusive; Big mistake, we only ate one meal there during 4 day stay and ate out rest of the time. Snacks onl at pool bar, only at certain times and consisted of a ham and cheese sandwich or a 1 inch square of cake. Drinks, soda, tonic water, draught larger, rum, vodka, gin, whiskey, it appears that’s it. I asked for a baileys and was asked to pay as it wasn’t included in all inclusive package. Heard barman charge one drunken guy 38 euro for 2 beer, 2 fanta, and 2 vodka and orange; and that to me seemed a little like robbery.My sister stayed in another hotel just up from The Roc and the food was way better,snacks, more varied and the bar more choice, just wish I’d listened. Entertainment, well I saw only the one night but thought that was great for the little kids. That was followed by some fun adult games. I seriously thought of checking out and going elsewhere but had prepaid, so while sat around the pool I had a few tonic waters or lemon fanta, tried the snacks twice, clean bathroom for showers and a clean bed to sleep, so just ate out every meal.

Nice hotel but sleep can be a challenge

Great rooms, nice people, but be careful if you get a poolside room and want to go to bed early: the noise from the night time activities is pretty intense. Things quiet down about 1:00; but we had an early flight and struggled to get to sleep.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The train goes right to the airport. Cheap and dependable.
