Moved to a different, better hotel in a better part of Paris
On arriving at the Citea de La Vallette in Paris, I was informed that technical difficulties had prevented me from being checked in. However, the hotel had already rebooked me in a new Citea in another part of the city (Charenton) which was much nicer than my original selection. They paid for a cab to the new location, which was much appreciated. Although the access to Metro was poorer at the new hotel, everything else about it was nicer - neighborhood, freshness, etc.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Use the Metro (forget cabs) and plan to walk. Paris is a walkers city (no wonder the French are not overweight). Start early in the morning - most important attractions open at 9 to 10 am and you can beat the crowds with an early start. Use local markets and bakeries to save on food costs. My hotel had a kitchenette and I saved much money on meals. Learn some French and try to use it -- I found no rude Frenchmen during the trip.

Citea Hotel in Paris on Blvd Haussmann 40
The hotel is a little to the North of Paris but close to the subway and not far from the center of Paris. My room was tiny but such is Europe in general. Otherwise, the staff at the hotel were super friendly and helpful. Quite with a small kitchen in the room with a refrigerator, stove, sink and dishes. Nice bonus.
