Non-Hotel Hotel
The Magic Hotel is a good place to stay, but it is not a hotel in the sense that there is a front desk and concierge etc. You check in, have a decent breakfast, and can use the computer terminals at the Hotel Krone (Best Western) about a block away. Front desk staff at Krone were helpful. Magic has free wireless, but the phones were out while we were staying there. The photos of the big tub etc are only in 2 rooms, so don’t be swayed by the photos. It was fully booked when we were there. That said, it is clean, adequate, not air-conditioned, but there is a fan, well located in old town. Their is an elevator (lift) and front door is secure. But it doesn’t feel like magic, at least the room we had (Symphonie). If you’re coming to Luzern by train, travel info office can give you directions, but to avoid a long set of steps with suitcase, walk across the river on the road along side the train station (Seebrucke)to old town, turn left at Kappellplatz the street just above the parking lot (along side the church with the St. Christopher fresco) and mardi gras fountain, then follow Kappellgasse to Cornplatz next to the Rathaus (town hall). Magic Hotel is under a covered alleyway next to the Bodu French brasserie (very good, by the way) and the Hotel Krone, where you check in, is at Weinmarket plaza, a little further down the way (where another fountain is).
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Enjoyed the guided walking tour offered by the traveler’s information at train station - 9:45 a.m. - tickets 18 Swiss francs; Rosengart Museum excellent collection. Picasso Museum is closed but its collection is at Rosengart. Recommend Restaurant Taub a short way from the Jesuit Kathedral on Burgerstrasse nr river. Valentino, across in Weinmarket plaza too.

Excellent Hotel
Rooms are small but very nice. Very neat and clean. Attached bathroom was excellent. Breakfast was also really good. Within 10 minutes walk from the Railway station. It is in the midst of tourist attraction. Overall a very good experience. I will highly recommend this hotel.

Not a bad choice
Can’t find a better location to all the attractions. Room condition is not bad for its price. Will stay there again.
