BAD IDEA
First, the positive: it was in a great location. Very close to two different tube stops and some nice pubs and restaurants. The breakfast was ok. The negative: As other reviewers wrote (don’t remember if it was on this site or TripAdvisor that I read it) we were given a room in the basement that smelled horrible. We asked to be moved. They refused-- for 3 days. I’m allergice to mold. I had to take antihistimine’s the entire time because the smell was mold. Since we’d already paid, we were stuck. The room was filthy, the hallway was filthy (am going to post pictures on TripAdvisor). I actually wrote notes in the dust on the mirror to see if they would clean it and they never did. We were there 4 nights. The did not give us clean dishes, I know because one of the cups I used for tea (a kettle and cups in the room) had a distinctive spot of dirt on it. When I returned, the dirty cup had just been put on top of the clean cups. This is just an example of what poor shape the room was in. The linens were threadbare, the covers were dirty and the bedspread horrible. I would never return here.

Great cheap place to stay, but bring your own towels and avoid basement room
We stayed in a triple room next to the breakfast room. The good: Free and good basic breakfast with hard boiled eggs, toast, cereal and drinks. Free wifi if you can connect. Newly renovated. Very central and convenient location (~5 min from the tube) Staff is usually responsive to problems Relatively comfortable for the price. The bad: It is noisy in the morning w/ the staff and people shuffled down to prep and eat. The bathroom sink stuck out in the way of the doors, making it hard to get in/out. Shower basin was recessed into the floor but have no guard to prevent water from leaving the basin, cause minor flooding in bathroom. Sometimes the towel has an acidic smell to them. Wifi is pretty flaky where we were staying. Keycard was a bit flaky. Overall it was a good experience. I will stay there again.
Traveler's tip on dining
If you make reservations online, make sure the restaurant has your contact phone number. There is nothing worse than showing up at the restaurant only to be told by the staff that there is no seats available. Getting a UK contact number is easy: go into a mobile phone store and buy a SIM.
