Extremely nice.

My stay at La Posada began with a very, very tiny room without a desk or even a coffee table to put things on. I asked to have a table or a desk moved to my room so I could work and was eventually told no extra furniture was available, but the hotel would move me to a room with a desk. This they did graciously and efficiently. My new room was almost twice the size with a desk, internet, two comfortable leather chairs with ottomans and a table! Lovely. Staff was helpful and pleasant; breakfast delicious. Hotel is a bit outdated in terms of design but not in terms of spirit. The grounds are lovely, especially the metal wind sculptures that dot the garden landscape and come from a local artist whose gallery I found on Canyon Road.

Traveler's tip

There are many exciting and wonderful art galleries, crafts, and restaurants in Santa Fe that can entirely absorb your stay. Make sure to take some time driving north into the hills, especially in early morning or late afternoon when the sun plays pink, orange and purple with the landscape. Magnificent. Also, The Compound restaurant on Canyon Road is a delight.

Whar can I say?

I was treated like a second class citizen. The hotal is beautiful, yet there seems to be a disconnect between management and the worker bees. I have never felt so debased trying to get my confirmed room. If you are Oprah Winfrey, perhaps this is the place for you.

Wonderful

I was looking for a centrally located hotel that would provide comfort, beauty, and a bit of luxury. The La Posada was perfect!

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The Randall Davey Audubon center is down the road from the hotel (~1.5 miles). Saturday mornings they offer guided bird walks - and I saw so many birds. It was a delightful and tranquil start to the day.

Disappointed

The customer service at the hotel was poor and we were very dissapointed. The hotel was highly recommended by one of our friends who lives in Santa Fe. We checked in during the evening and the next day when we returned from dinner, we were locked out of our room. I went to front desk and they explained that their computer showed that we never checked in the night before. I explained that we checked in, stayed the night, showed them my room key and they continued to point to the computer and tell me that we were a "no show". My boyfriend was not feeling well and I asked them three times to please send someone to let him into the room, so that he could rest. The person I spoke with kept insisting it would only be another minute and it took them almost an hour to resolve the problem. The person we worked with showed absolutely no compassion or concern for our situation. Our room was not clean and nothing was restocked. They didn’t even apologize for the inconvenience. The resort is lovely, the restaurant was fantastic, however our experiences with their staff has soured us on this resort. I travel frequently and expected so much more from a hotel that has such a good rating.

Elegance and Comfort

Our stay at La Posada was very enjoyable. Our room was clean and well kept by house keeping. In your room you will find complementary bottled water and if you run out just ask for more and the staff will take care of your need. From the moment we entered the hotel grounds the valet assisted us with checking in and directing us to our room. All the staff was always willing to help and smiled at us from the grounds keeper to the concierge. We ate at both restaurants, drank at the bar made changes to our dinner time and everyone was willing to help. This is not a large hotel so be ready to relax and slow down. The hotel lobby is not grand central. At the time of check out I sat down across the desk from some one at guest services and was given our bill and asked if everything was correct. All charges were accurate and I thanked them fro a wonderful stay.

A hotel you’ll never forget

The atmasphere of this hotel is classic, cozy and stylish-no matter in the lobby, restaurant or the room. Service is polite and wonderful. Room condition is good, the bed and down comforter’s quality are the best, gauranteed to have a good night sleep. You’ll never regret to stay here.

Great time

We had a great time and I was leery after reading some bad reviews. Service was a bit slow in the restaurant but we were there to have fun, not to stress over time. Most of our meals were in Sante Fe anyway. Tequila school with the Guatamalian bar tender was a hoot. All the staff was great and we loved the hotel and grounds. Beds were very comfortable and nice big screen TV. Wished we would have upgraded to some of the interesting rooms in the pueblo style, they looked cool.

Traveler's tip on dining

Real cuisine and fun is in the plaza downtown. Hotel is good for a quick drink or snack.

Quiet Romantic Heaven

Excellent in every respect: location, rooms with woodburning fireplaces and patios. Heated outside pool. One glitch-tried to eat at their restaurant the first night and there was literally one poor woman trying to seat, serve, open wine and (we think) even prepare the food. No need to worry though as Santa Fe is full of great restaurants. We liked it so much that we stayed an extra night.

excellent service/food, not all rooms are satisfactory

while the food and service were very good, the "upgraded" room was awkward and uncomfortable. The front desk operation should be looked at as well as housekeeping. Otherwise it is a beautiful setting, convenient to the Plaza, and the personnel will go out of their way to help when asked.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

it is easy to focus on thee Plaza and upscale restaurants, use some of the suggested "drives" and explore beyond Santa Fe. We found Bandolier National Monument an exceptional experience. Also try some of the more "local" restaurants for a better sense of the regional food. And don’t miss the Georgia O’Keefe Musemum!

A Rock Resort that Doesn’t, Hardly 4 Star - Poor Service, Poor Housekeeping, No Management Present

A ’Rock Resort’ that doesn’t!! I manage a public facility with more than 1 million visitors a year and this was absollutely the worst 4-star service we have ever experienced - Management has absolutely no presence on site - new staff (many old staff apparently left to join staff of a new nearby Casino) have had little/any training. From no welcome, to no help with bags, to little/no wayfinding to our room, to having to wait for valet service for 30 minutes, to having to beg housekeeping for replacement soap, coffee, etc., every day for 4 days, to no high speed internet access - this stay was very disappointing. Daily conversations with management "by phone" resulted in no improvement. The Chef and wait staff in restaurant were excellent - wonderful food quality and presentation..the rest, a disaster. Until this hotel gets its service act and training for service together, save your money and save the trouble! Rock Resorts has hit a new low.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Don’t depend on concierge or front desk staff to be attentive, polite or helpful. Restaurant staff were very helpful. Don’t expect to get any value from the $30/day "resort fee" tacked on to your bill - it is supposed to include high speed internet which doesn’t work!

Superb Service, and Prices to Match

I stayed at La Posada for one week in July 2007. The entire staff was extremely attentive, friendly, and helpful -- from the valet parking to housekeeping to front desk to restaurants. The grounds and rooms are impeccably kept. My room was comfortable, quiet, peaceful, and pleasant to look at. Breakfast at Fuego’s in the outdoor patio was idyllic. And the location is perfect, three blocks from the Plaza and two blocks from Canyon Road and the art galleries. The only downsides to La Posada are the cost and the question of making sure you get a good room. For the price they charge, I expect all of the good things listed above. So I was initially upset with the room I was assigned. I had reserved a Premium Patio Room, thinking of enjoying an attractive patio -- only to find that the room adjoined a busy street and the patio was open to the sidewalk. Fortunately, the front desk staff went to a lot of trouble to reassign me to a better room. You might also want to check if there is a wedding going on, as this seems to be a frequent and potentially noisy event for non-participating guests having rooms near the wedding party area.

20th aniversary trip

The hotel and staff were great! From the "chefs tour" of the kitchen on Friday evening (free wine and appetizers) to the cozy room with the kiva fireplace to the free DVDs at the front desk to watch in your room to the help the Concierge gave me with ordering flowers and arranging dinner reservations. All aspects of our stay there wer fantastic. I would stay there again anytime.

loved the fireplace in my room

not impressed with the restaurant, at least for breakfast or lunch. The squash soup had too much flour in it and no flavor. The grounds and sculpture were beautiful. The art work lovely. The spa and hot tub wonderful
