Not what you can expect
The excitment of staying in a "chateau" quickly disapeared at check in. The photos do not show the old concrete building in which the "cloister" rooms are. The set of cloister rooms look like a 1970 motel with doors opening to the outside patio. Cleanliness was not great, there were flies and moskitoes in the rooms. Old and unconfortable matresses.
Traveler's tip on dining
Dinner at the on-site restaurant was a real dispointment.

Full service but laid back
I go annually to this chateau which is located on a golf course. It has spectacular views of St. Victoire and the grounds are luxurious and well tended. The bistro overlooks the 11th hole lake and the restaurant is top quality french fare served artfully. The pools clean and at the same time rustic with mirror images (one for kids which is not very deep and a larger one for adults. It is quiet and understated but you have great freedom within the grounds. I usually get some cheese, proscuitto and wine and sit on the veranda reading and watching the magnificent changing light.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
You are a stones throw (5 minutes) from the foot of St. Victoire and a small town called Puylubier which is stock full of vineyards to tour. Some terrific Provencal wines. Aix-en-Provence is only 15 minutes away with a spectacularly large market on Saturdays from 9-1pm and the Mediterranean is only 20!!
