NYvacationers

We love love loved this hotel!!!! This is possibly the best vacation we ever took. Not over the top "luxurious" but very nice (shower was tricky but great otherwise). Location wise it’s a little removed from downtown & we thought that was going to be a bummer but not so. We really liked that we were a little far out of town. Belizean Shores has GREAT food & the best swim up bar we saw. We loved the staff, they were so caring and genuine. The front desk wasn’t available 100% of the time but not a huge deal. We would definitely recommend it.

Bring a few snacks in your suitcase. It definitely helps save a little money plus you don’t have to worry about dragging groceries back to the resort.

An excellent place to stay

The resort was much more than we expected it to be. The staff was wonderful, personable, competent. The condos were very clean and maintained very well. The experienced staff, from front desk to housekeeping and excursion planning was excellent. Any wish we had was ,with pleasure, it seemed, taken care of. One of the most beautiful and unusual places to see, with the reef to break the waves off shore, but within sight to see from the shore.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Food items in the stores in San Pedro are at best, pretty pricy. If possible, try to take some packages and light canes items with you. This may seem a bit much, but is VERY handy to have with you in the comdo, as most likely, the last thing you will want to do is large scale grocery shopping. Tripos to town must be by water taxi or golf cart. (golf cart not recommended. Stay away from Time share salesmen to prevent any wasted time on this georgous island.

Could not have been better

I booked a trip to Belize 2 weeks before going, so wasn’t sure what to expect. It was SO great. I traveled alone and the resort employees (more like friends) kept tabs on me, remembered my name, and made sure I had everything I needed or could ever want. Everyone was so friendly and I made lots of new friends, both travelers and those living there. Belezian Shores Resort has a fabulous restaurant...very gourmet, but priced reasonable. There is a swim up bar with the friendliest bartender ever. And the excursions leave right from the resort’s dock, so you don’t have to walk to another place to head out for the day. So easy and smooth. I am recommending this to everyone I talk to.

The place to be in Belize!

The hotel accomodations are excellent, the staff so helpful, friendly and fun. The pool and swim up bar are by far the best of all the places on Ambergris. Food is very good and you can order from your room, at the pool or enjoy the restaurant and the nightly specials! The diving crowd at the hotel raved about the diving services. Definitely a place for a return visit!

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Check out the tour activities located via services at the hotel and book through them. There were more options offered for customizing a tour to meet your needs such as Mayan Ruins and Cave Tubing on the same day! Definitely use the recommended provisioning services to stock your kitchenette prior to arrival as the grocery stores stock minimal items and you would need to make an extra trip to town.

Belizean Heaven

My family and I (including two teenagers)stayed at the Belizean Shores Resort in July and were very pleased with the service and accommodations. We found the grounds well kept, the resort staff friendly and very helpful. We highly recommend the on site tour operator "Tuff E Nuff Tours". The catamaran day trip to the marine reserve and Caye Caulker were just the ticket for fun and relaxation. The entire family thoroughly enjoyed the trip to the mainland for cave tubing and zip lining through the rain forest. The only downside to traveling to the mainland is riding the water taxi to Belize City. The boat can get rather crowded and hot. Be sure and ask for Leroy at Tuff E Nuff Tours. He was extremely helpful, fun and quite a character. We highly recommend using Dave’s Water Taxi service for trips back and forth to San Pedro. He offers the cheapest rates and is very punctual. Can’t wait to go back!

Traveler's tip on dining

The following are highly recommended: Elvi’s Kitchen and the Blue Water Grill.

Quiet and Private

A nice resort if you’re looking for peace and quiet. Food was excellent. Staff was friendly and responsive to requests. Condos were very nice and comfortable. Food was OUTSTANDING. If you happen to look at their menu online, don’t panic, the prices are in Belizean dollars (2 to $1 US).

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Condos include a fully equipped kitchen. You can order groceries online (just search for Ambergris Caye groceries)and have them stocked in your room before you arrive for a modest service charge.

Nice place with great pool

Nice place on north end of island. Resort staff were there to pick us up at the airport and brought us (via boat) to the resort. This is done for all guests. Diving etc. coordinated by resort which was great.

Wonderful!!

We would rate Belizean Shores wonderful. The accomodations were spacious and the staff was helpful, friendly, and gracious. The pool area and the pool bar were lovely, and the folks who worked in the Upper Deck Bar and Grill could not have been nicer. We felt like we were among old friends. Our excursions to Mayan ruins, the zoo, etc. could not have been more pleasant. The guides were excellent and the whole process went off without a hitch. It was surprising and delightful to be in a place where autos were virtually non-existant. No wonder the water and sky are so beautiful. We will go back.

Traveler's tip

Take some basic snacks, breakfast foods from home, and save your $$ for meals.

I would recommend this resort.

We had an upstairs unit which has a loft and a private balcony. We found the upgrade was worth the cost. The pool is amazing and the hot tub seemed to hot or to cold. We scuba dived from the hotel services and we had small groups and great diving. The refrigerator was broke when we arived, but they fixed it the next day. Food and alcohol at the hotel was expensive, but we discoved this is typical for the area as we visited other resorts. The resort is 3 miles from town which has has both pro’s and cons. I would recommend this resort.

Traveler's tip

Golf carts are a cheaper way to get around then the water taxi. They very much need an adopt a pot hole program.

Nice place to GET AWAY

It is a great place to get away from everything, no night life at the resort you need to walk down the beach or take water taxi. If you are wanting to experience the condo life on the ocean this is the place, if you want social night life maybe not. beautiful location and friendly staff, if you cook in your condo, they even do the dishes :-)

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

the pool is great. and you can snorkel right off the beach, other wise you need to take the water taxi.......which i might ad is fun

Great escape

We had a wonderful time at Belizean Shores. my only recommendation would be to work to fix the roads behind the hotel so that golf carts had an easier time. It would also be nice to see a few more items at the store like snacks and quick to fix foods.

Just short of perfect

Belizean Shores, Ambergis Caye and Belize in general were just what we were looking for in a laid back vacation venue. Weather in early November was perfect. Only drawback is the distance from town. Isolation does not come without a price, but it is worth it. Scuba diving and snorkeling were first class. Restaurants, both in town and up and down the beach were good.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Definitely buy some groceries in town for breakfast and lunch. Otherwise, you’ll spend a lot of time and/or money going to eat.

Great place

I would have never guessed the hotel was 8 (or so) years old. It looked and felt brand new. Very clean and the grounds were meticulously kept. The pool was spectacular and the staff was very accommodating.

Traveler's tip

The guys at the dive shop are very nice and are knowlegable about local diving. The equipment is used and needs to be replaced (very limited sizes and equipment broke often). I recommend bringing your own gear.

Was not given the rooms we booked???

Everything was great except we had booked to rooms, one over the other so we could help each other. We were placed in rooms two buidling away. Then relocated to two upper rooms side by side that required elderly occupants to go up and down two flights of 14 stairs each time we visited our travelling companions.

We will definitely go back!!

The resort was everything we expected and more. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable, and the guys at Tuff E’Nuff (on-site activities desk) arranged anything and everything we wanted to do. The food was excellent and the pool bar service was the best - and the pool was the best on the island! Very relaxed atmosphere, and all the amenities necessary are on site. Only a few hundred yards from the coral reef, accessible by kayak for snorkeling. Very well kept grounds and shore area. They also have in-house spa treatments in your room. San Pedro town is about a 25 minute bike ride along the beach, where you can find lots of restaurants, shops, activities, and more. We would definitely recommend this resort to anyone wanting to go to Belize or the cayes.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

Talk to the guys at Tuff E’Nuff on the pier for all of your activities. They scheduled snorkeling, diving, trips to Mayan ruins, the zoo, cave tubing, zip lining, and lots more. And it is so convenient to walk right out to the pier and get on a boat for your activity without having to worry about how you will get there - they take care of everything!!

Honeymoon in Paradise

We arrived to San Pedro and were greated by hotel personnel that brought us to the hotel by private boat. The showed us around the property and all the accomodations that the hotel included. Great pool ..definitely try the monkey banana cocktail. Make sure that if you are going to rent the golf cart ... reserve it in advance.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

The booth at the end of the dock offers great day trips but we aware the prices are higher than normal, if you are willing to look for better prices ask around in San Pedro.

Great hotel for great price

The hotel is lovely, with excellent laid-back service. The swim-up bar is marvelous, as is the pool. The Tuf-Enuf snorkelling and excursion office was very convenient with good trips. The restaurant is fine, but for high cuisine there is better down the beach. I highly recommend this hotel.

Great Belizean comforts

We very much enjoyed our stay at Belizean Shores. The hotel was situated away from the town and crowds, but access to San Pedro was a short water taxi away. The staff at the hotel took care of all our needs with a courtesy that was genuine. The tours were wonderful and easy to book. All the comforts were available. The hotel pool was exceptional and the central meeting spot for everyone at the end of the day.

Traveler's tip on dining

Walk the beach to find exceptional restaurants and some beach huts that serve wonderfully fresh seafood at very inexpensive prices.

Beautiful setting

The condo was great and had plenty of room. The kitchen had what we needed, although it would have been nice if they had given us coffee in the room more than the first day. They kept it very clean and the a/c really helped since it was very hot. The view from the front porch was gorgeous and the pool was incredible. We spent a lot of time out on the dock and enjoyed the complimentary kayaks. The hotel restaurant was so-so as far as food but the service was nice. We experienced food poisoning from a nearby resort restaurant (Luna) and the people at Belizean Shores helped us to get to good medical care.

Traveler's tip on dining

Don’t come here for the food- it’s hard for them to get fresh produce, meats and dairy. To eat well we had to go to really expensive restaurants. The food in the grocery stores was imported, prepackaged American food.

nice hotel on the beach

we had a first floor room. it was very nice, large bed and kitchen. the tv is small, but has lots of channels. there were neighbors, but b/c the walls are concrete - we didn’t hear a thing. if you want to rent a bike, get to the office early to reserve.

Beautiful and relaxing

My husband and I just returned from a short stay at Belizean Shores. We found it to be a beautiful, clean, well maintained resort. The rooms are actually condos so were much more spacious than we expected. The upper units have a loft that contains 2 twins besides having a queen bed in the bedroom. There is a sealed gallon of water in the refrigerator when you arrive and they have a reverse osmosis purification system that you can use to refill. The restaurant was good, not great, prices for dinner entrees were comparable to the US. They were not open for breakfast and are closed on Mondays. The pool is exceptional, as is Tanya the bartender. At the time we were there, it cost $8 US each way for a water taxi into town, but bicycle and golf cart rentals are available at the front desk. If you are like us, we were content to stay on Ambergris Caye, eating at the resort or walking to others close by. Diving, snorkling and land excursions can be arranged on site. We took a taxi from BZE to get the island ferry and probably would not do that again. Take a taxi from BZE to the municipal airport and fly to San Pedro on Tropic Air. It’s worth the extra $20 US p/p! Note: There are steps even to get into the lower units and three flights of steps to get to the restaurant. This is not a physically handicapped friendly resort.

Traveler's tip on nightlife

This is a wonderful place for families or those wanting a peaceful retreat. For an exciting nightlife, you would probably want to be in San Pedro.
