Perfect Location-Plenty of Room
The Hilton is perfectly situated to enjoy this historical enclave in St. Augustine. If you are not within comfortable walking distance of your next sight of interest, you can simply find a close stop on the sightseeing trolley route to get you anywhere from close to the Hilton. The balcony overlooking the bay is beautiful with sailboats anchored adding wonderful ambiance. Have the AC pan emptied if your AC stops cooling enough. It is a simple call and they do this quickly-The physical drip pan is small and simply needs to be emptied. We had this done on day 2 of a 4 day trip and was satisfied with the AC in the heat of August, 2009. Breakfast buffet is nice and convenient. We ate elsewhere otherwise, but would happily try lunch or dinner there. We enjoyed the pool and spa just before bed.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Drive to the south end of the beach which is a preserve. The beach is wide with tidal pools with wonderful sand dunes. A reminder of days of yore-Wonderful restaurants in the historic area are The Bubbleroom, Columbia, and the A1A Ale House. I loved Sunday brunch at Casa del Monaco (the 1888 hotel?). Take the trolley, a ghost tour is great , walk the Fort, Ripleys for kids, and enjoy the live music in restaurants/bars. Great art galleries.

My stay was satisfactory.
I found the Hilton to not be a great bargain. There was no breakfast included as is true in most hotels these days. Their restaurant was pricy and we did not eat there. I only booked the hotel because there were no B and Bs available. They are, by far, a much better value.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
The advantage to the Hilton was its proximity to the Historic District.

Finally a hotel with a view!
Weve stayed at the more famous, older, stately hotel a few blocks away rather than a bed and breakfast, so were anxious to see whether this would warrant a return visit. It does!! Our room with the balcony overlooking the harbor and pool was very nice. Only suggestion---they could put something up to separate parties sharing balconies. Most of the time we were the only ones using it. Great location--nice decor. Well go back!
