Excellent location to be able to walk to all of Rome toursit sites ie Vatican, colloisum, fountains
Breakfast was not available due to long term construction and no alternative was offered. Gave refund of $10.00. With Rome being so expensive due to the exchange rate this was a disappointment. We should have been given this information at booking. There are steps that lead to the elevator which we did not know. So dragging large suitcases up the steps was a challenge. Room was clean and recently remodled though very small--as expected in older European cities. Location was wonderful as we walked every where. Staff was very helpful with logistics and calling for transportation back to the airport.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Walking distance to all attractions. Hotel off a side street so traffic was not an issue. Ask for interior room so street noise wont be a problem.

Great location for the price
We had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Marcus. #1, the location is perfect if you want to be in the hub of things. #2, for those who insist on them, the elevator did work. #3, they are undergoing renovations so there are some construction materials around, but it didnt affect us at all and our room was right next to a room they were working on. There is no air conditioning but there is a fan-- the bathroom WAS small, but this is Rome.... its a very old building and one cant expect US standards... and there is a fridge in the room. The staff was very pleasant and for the minimal amount he told us his wages are, hes doing a great job. If youre traveling on a budget, this is definitely a place to go.
Traveler's tip on dining
If you exit the hotel and head towards the Lungotevere, follow the street on the side nearest the hotel-- dont cross. Go down a couple of blocks, towards the Vatican, and keep checking to your left-- down a set of steps, on Via di Tor (?) di Nona, is a small restaurant called Lillis. Its fabulous.

only plus is the location, maybe better after renovation
We were immediately disturbed by the fact that most of the floor was under construction and were not comfortable at all leaving our only key at the desk with all of the construction workers around. We thus never had our room cleaned. Breakfast was in a bar across the street because of construction. Maybe once the renovations are completed the place will look a little nicer, but they should also look into hiring new staff. We had only one helpful desk clerk out of 3. Otherwise, the location was incredible. About 8 blocks from the Spanish steps and about equidistant from Piazza Navona. We also had an easy and enjoyable walk to the Vatican. If you dont care about anything except a bed to sleep in, I recommend this hotel. If not, look elsewhere.
