Great Hotel in a Great Area

This hotel was extremely affordable, though parking is $40 a night, and only 5 blocks away from the Moscone Center. Good restaurants and good area in the city as well. They made my stay very enjoyable and easy. Definitely a place I’ll stay in SF again!

Would’ve been great 10 years ago!

The front desk staff was friendly and helpful! They were able to get us into our rooms early and without any hassle. The rooms on the other hand were less than what I had expected... The velvet pillows were not what you want to find in a hotel and the showers was like stepping into a waterfall... Not to mention that you need to watch out for the shower head flying off mid-shower... The screaming and running through the hallway mixed with the alley-way bum arguements made for an entertaining night, however when you are trying to sleep it gets old! Bottom Line - Go Somewhere Else!

Great location, great price!

This is a great hotel and a great location. This is my second time staying here and it was just as great as the first time. The room this time was smaller than before, but what else can you expect in old buildings? There is a starbucks attached to the building which is completely convenient and the location itself is 2 blocks down from union square. The decor is funky and I loved it.

Not impressed at all

Nice lobby, but the rest is very disapointing: - Poor beds - Tiny bathroom - Noisy corridor Also, the door would let in a lot of corridor light at night. Quite annoying.

Friendly staff, great location....

Hotel Diva is ideally located a few minutes away from Union Square; the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, and perfect for two people travelling together. Union Square and the shops were only a few minutes walk away, making this hotel the ideal base for exploring San Francisco. We wish we had found it sooner!

Ideal Location in San Francisco

This hotel is centrally located in San Francisco. Shopping in Union Square is a couple of minutes walk away where you can also pick up the cable car, bus or a taxi. Theatres just across the street too. Hotel staff were most helpful. Only drawback - the bathroom did not have a washbasin. This was in the room!

Highly Recommend

The Diva is cute, very chic and well-kept. It is located close to many famous gastro-pubs and fine theaters. The staff know you by name because the hotel is a smaller size and the ammenities (wireless access rooms, for one) were very nice. I would choose the Diva over any other local hotel chain.

Of course you must see Alcatraz! One note: don’t go walking around down town by yourself.

Very Noisy

Extremely noisy room facing busy street. Sound sleep is tough due to significant street noise. San Fran locals (and tourists) never seem to stop creating commotion. Garbage trucks ramble at 5am... not a place for those seeking sound rest and relaxation. Certainly noise may be better away from busy street.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Great location near Unioin Square. plenty to do and see (including San Fran’s abundance of bums and vagabonds)

Do not stay here!

The hotel staff was short... almost rude. The room was cramped and smelled strange. The bathroom barely had room to turn around in with absolutely no counter space. The room you will get will be nothing like the pictures. The fitness "center" is super cramped and has horrible air ventilation. The only good thing about this hotel was that there was a Starbucks downstairs, AND the mexican bistro is wonderful. There is a good brunch there with bottomless mimosas.

Great Staff

During my stay, I needed to scan and email some important documents. While I was in the computer room a gentleman over heard what I was trying to accomplish. So happens he was one of the maintenance people. He started to make some calls and soon I was in the corporate offices with two people helping me. Wow, great staff.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Nice Place for the Price Range

A fantastic location in the heart of Union Square section of town, well within walking distance of shopping, great restaurants/cafes, and Market Street hub for catching the trolley or buses to anywhere else in the city you want to go. Upon checking in my prepaid room was not available, but I was upgraded without the bat of an eye. Nice. Keeping in mind that you are not paying an arm and a leg to stay there, I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very friendly. The room was serviced well daily. It is smallish, but who goes to SF to sit in the room? I used the on site Fitness Center, Business Center and computer lounges. This is where I think they slip a little. In the fitness center it was hot and the air conditioner did not appear to cool sufficiently. A nice sized plasma TV, had a smashed screen. (This was taken down Saturday). The equipment was nice, 2 treadmills and an elliptical, 4-5 weight machines, free weights and a bench. The computer lounges need help. Do not put a MAC in there and then tell the user to log in using IE. They are not compatible and you get an error on 90% of any site. The monitor was up high, with a bar stool. The key board is at chin level, very uncomfortable to use. Update this area soon. The business center was much nicer was being used much more. Overall, the place could use a paint job and maybe a carpet refresher, but going back to the price, it’s hard to complain about that. I would absolutely stay there again!

Dirty Bathroom & Camera Stolen

After long drive from Los Angeles, we checked in the hotel around 8 PM. When we went into the room, the sink was dirty and there was a pool of water on the bathroom floor. I called the Housekeeping to ask them to send someone to clean it, but, they never did. We stayed in the hotel for 2 days. We assumed that they cleaned it after the first night, but, they never did!! When we returned from the full day of sightseeing, the sink was still the same and there still was a pool of water on the floor! Plus, my sister lost the camera there. It never turned up. Who would steal the camera with functions all written in Japanese?? It was a very disappointing experience.

Doesn’t quite live up to the Diva name

The room had kind of a "shabby swanky" feel to it -- like maybe it was nice 5 years ago but it now seems a bit worn around the edges. We had asked for a quiet room, and while it didn’t have any street noise, the heater made so much noise that we couldn’t run it at night. The windows leaked so much cold air that we kept the door to the bathroom (which had a window in it) closed at night so we could keep the heat in the bedroom. As far as hotels go, it got the job done, staff seemed nice, but the room wasn’t anything to write home again. I don’t really regret staying there but I’ll stay somewhere else next time.

No natural light in the room

This is a great hotel, good value and in a great spot. The biggest problem is that most of the rooms look out into a small light well so there is next to none natural light coming. If this doesn’t bother you, this is a great choice

perfect place

The Diva was the perfect place for my business stay, inexpensive, clean, hip, close to everything, the only thing I regret is not having time for a margarita next door...

Hotel Diva San Francisco

This hotel was a good find. Although the rooms are the typical small San Francisco style old hotel size, that’s where any similarity to an older hotel stops. The rooms are clean, fun and contemporary. The staff was extremely helpful. Having a Starbucks accessible from the lobby was a life-saver for my wife. A block and a half from Union Square and a 7 minute walk to Moscone Center makes the location perfect for business or pleasure. A friend who was attending the same conference stayed with his family in the "kids suite". He said his kids were having a ball there.

Traveler's tip on dining

There are too many excellent restaurants to within a block or so from the Diva, but Max’s (1/2 block) is a favorite for lunch.

Great value with a hip style

The room was surprisingly spacious compared to similarly valued rooms in NYC. The location is great for attending the convention center and site seeing.

we loved it

This hotel was close to Union Square, cable cars, subway and street cars, museums, shopping. Front desk staff was very helpful with directions for public transportation. Room was very comfortable. Nice to have that iPod dock in the room. Cute mini lounge on almost every floor - really creative interior design.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Ask for 7th floor room so you can get free pastry and coffee in the morning. But don’t get the room right across from the lounge like we got. It is noisy with people coming and going in the morning.

Fun Fun

We were "on the cheap" so the hotel room was one of the smaller ones: compact, clean, fun decor with character, and convenient. Staff was friendly and responsive. It was all we needed for a three day blast into town with very little time spent in the hotel!

Loved it

What a cute place. The bed was so comfortable and the room was quite. I loved that the windows open to allow fresh air. The shower pressure was great. I travel a lot through my work and stay at Hiltons, Marriots, etc. This room was my favorite by far.

Traveler's tip on dining

Lefty O’Doules is about a block away. Towards Macy’s. We had the homemade soup and corned beef sandwich. I can’t even explain how good it was...The small corner stores do not mark prices their goods and are very expensive. I recommend you bring what you can with you, Beer, etc.
