inexpensive place to stay with two people in a room

If you like spacious and you have three people staying in a room, you might want to choose a different hotel. Like all of our other hotels, the third person was squeezed into the room making it a challenge to move around. The friendliness and the help from the front desk more than made up for the sleeping inconvenience. I would recommend this hotel without qualifications. It reminded us of a Red Roof chain in the U.S. --no charm, just the basics.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

The D-Day beaches and the park where DeGaulle gave his first speech after returning to French soil, the war cemeteries, the Bayeux tapestry, all make for an exceptional destination.

Clean and affordable

This is a very simple hotel with two outstanding features...price and location. We were disappointed to have the rooms reserved be advertised as having 3 single beds but were actually 2 single beds on frames with headboards and a single folding frame with thin mattress.

Great Price & Location

For those wanting to tour the invasion beaches, I recomend this hotel. A short walk from the train station and downtown Bayeux, this hotel is clean, comfortable, and convenient. The staff speak English. The breakfast is probably the only thing disapointing. Not too much to choose from but if you want cereal and coffee, you’ll be OK. Overall, I give it a thumbs up.

Disappointed

Selected the Campanile based on price and previous reviews. The place reminds me of a well worn motor motel from the 50’s. Small room, many spiders throughout. Difficult to operate lock system. Better and cheaper places to stay in Bayeux than the Campanile.

Average lodging

Our visit was one night & that was just about the limit for us. A plus was the easy-to-find location, a minus was room amenities. Check-in was courteous, but we avoided the breakfast, which we deemed expensive, and had to have that charge removed from our bill.

Good price, convenient location to Normandy sites

This hotel is a good bet if you are planning to tour D-Day sites around Normandy, but skip the restaurant.

Good clean hotel just outside of town (Wheelchair accessible)

This two-story hotel is 1-2 miles outside of the town of Bayeau, France. It is perfect if you want a good, clean hotel to stay in while exploring the Normandy area. The rooms are plain, but handle all the needs of a traveler - comfortable beds, TV, coffee maker, biscuits, heater, small bathroom with bathtub/shower, and basic furnishings. There is a pleasant restaurant on site, with a great breakfast buffet (extra charge). It also serves other meals, however we only enjoyed breakfast there.

Some rooms are wheelchair accessible. If you are taking a tour of Normandy, some tours will pick you up at this hotel, and others will meet you in downtown Bayeau (only 1-2 miles away).

Clean, convenient place, close to the beaches

Bayeux was a great place to stay--a small, pretty town rather than a big city like Caen, and closer to the beaches. This hotel was right on the edge of town so it was very easy to find, and it has a nice parking lot. Staff was friendly and spoke English well, room was clean. Restaurant in the complex was also convenient, but we weren’t terribly impressed by the food.
