Needs New Management
I chose Microtel because it was inexpensive and close to the airport. I only needed a place to sleep to catch an early flight, and I wasnt expecting anything fancy. After waiting over an hour for a shuttle that never showed, I finally caught a ride with another hotels shuttle service. They were kind enough to take me to the Microtel. Once I arrived, the night clerk was friendly enough, and check-in was quick. The elevator and hallways were shabby. The interior definitely needs new paint and carpet. My room seemed clean, but not clean enough for me to walk around in bare feet. There was only one towel and washcloth in the bathroom, and the water took 20 minutes to heat. The bed was comfortable with clean sheets, but my room was right next to the dumpster, and at 5:30 am, the trash pick-up would have woke the dead. Good thing I was already awake. The continental breakfast consisted of two types of cereal and a few bagels. This place is okay for a cheap overnight stay, but dont expect anything else.

Horrible place to stay, look elsewhere!!!
Horrible experience! We had a 16hour layover and planned to go into Atlanta. But, our shuttle driver brought us 15 miles to the other side of Atlanta to ANOTHER Microtel. I saw it go by and he kept saying he knew where he was going. An hour later, we arrived at the hotel and tried to check in. Lo and behold, we were told that we were at the wrong hotel. The front desk clerk rudely informed us that he would be able to "get [us]there eventually, but it will be a real inconvenience for our shutttle." So we waited for THREE HOURS in their lobby before the shuttle arrived. At this point the shuttle driver was incredibly upset and rude and yelled at us for giving him the wrong information. It took over an hour to check in, though there was only one person ahead of us.When we finally got checked in, we inquired about the continental breakfast, and we were told it didnt open until 10am. (When we booked it stated it would be open at 6am!) Our flight wasnt until 11am, but we again were told that they didnt have regular shuttles and the only one that would be leaving would be at 5am. The bed wasnt even made--as if someone had been sleeping on it (or in it!)The whole place smelled of cat urine and mold. There also wasnt hot water (or cold for that matter) it was all room temperature. DO NOT STAY HERE!

never again!
Neither of the two lamps in the room had working lightbulbs, after numerous calls to the front desk (no answer) we finally walked to the front to get lightbulbs. Only one lamp worked anyway. The toilet seat was attached with only one bolt,so the seat slid when you sat on it, the tank had a huge crack and was sealed with some kind of putty & looked like tape. It had some little knob on the top of the tank you pulled up to flush the toilet. Reminded me of the kind we had at camp when I was a kid! The room mustve been directly under the flight path, as about every 3 minutes ALL NIGHT LONG, the room shook when planes flew directly overhead. It was hard to hear the TV over the plane noise. The Day Break Breakfast was a choice of 2 kinds of dry cereal, an apple or an orange, english muffin or muffin, coffee/juice. (We ate at the airport instead.)The beds were fine. For a cheap place to stay over one night to catch an early flight out, it worked, but it was NOT a restful night! The shuttle to the airport was free and the driver very nice. The front desk staff were friendly. The physical setting needs to be updated & improved. Some insulation would be helpful!
Traveler's tip for business travelers
In a pinch, it works, but if you need a place for more than one night or want to actually sleep, keep searching for someplace else.
