Not impressed

Not given room paid for initially. Did get moved. At check at, desk clerk asked why we were in that particular room, when we had been assigned to another room. We had paid for a nicer room than the one we were placed in at check-in.

Traveler's tip

Ocean front.

Great location

Great location. Staff is quite friendly and willing to help. Air conditioners and other noise made it almost impossible to get a good nights sleep. Had to get the key reprogrammed about every other time we tried getting in the room. All in all though I have stayed here before and will again. Although the building needs some maintenance attention the location and friendliness of the staff make it worthwhile for the money.

Traveler's tip

Take some earplugs..........I will next time.

I love Charleston, but I will never stay here again!

It is an older hotel so I was going to give it a chance, and was not going to judge by my first impression. However when I found 2 huge bugs that looked like roaches to me, the lady at the front desk told me they were some island bug that flies into open door!!! Either way, sooooo gross!!!!!! She did nothing to make up for it. Also the room phone would not work, and the pool is the size of my bathtub!

Nice Clean Hotel

The hotel was very clean and rooms had been updated tastefully. The only negative was that the room was a little small for 2 beds.

Need Major Updating

Rooms are very small. Maid service does not do a complete cleaning survice. Outside appears that it is never cleaned. pARKING IS DIFFICULT EVEN IN OFF SEASON.

On the Beach!!!

To actually be able to hear the waves crashing and the gulls screaming was amazing. The walk to the beach took approximately 22 seconds and the sights were wonderful. The beach is littered with shells and big waves. I actually saw live crabs and terns chasing them. Sunrise was beautiful. Service at the hotel was great and my room was comfortable and clean.

Traveler's tip on shopping

Quaint, reasonable little shops within walking distance of the hotel. A fabulous place to get lost for a morning or afternoon. Beach parafanalia available at all of them. Carry local artisans works.

The location is everything, hotel is right on the ocean...

The only problem that we experienced was the nightly partying at the VFW.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

(the reason to recommend hotel).... You’re in easy access to many of Charleston’s lovely areas; Mt. Pleasant, Sullivan’s Isand, Seagrass Island, Folly Island, Edisto Island, Daniel’s Inland, Kiawah Island, and downtown....

Great Deal

This hotel wasn’t ’quite’ what was expected, but was a great bargain, and a nice surprise to find. The only drawback we had were the rooms were a touch small, but were still plenty comfortable. We were extremely impressed with the helpful and courteous staff, and with its remarkable location, on the beach and with the local shops and restaurants. We highly recommend BANANA CABANA for a bite to eat or a drink. We have already made plans to return next year.

Location, Location, Location

Stayed 4 nights at the Seaside Inn. The room was small, but the bed was comfortable. There wern’t many luxury things in the room, but it wasn’t necessary. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and watching the ocean. You can not beat the location.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

If someone is planning to stay at the Seaside, I would recommend a room on the third floor, on the side opposite from the next door bar.

Everything about Seaside Inn was perfect from hotel staff to room

We were very satisfied as we did not know what to expect, however our whole experience was great and room was very roomy. Most of all CLEAN. Breakfast was enjoyed and the quietness of area where Inn was located was pleasant and quiet.

Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay

Very easy to get into Charleston and then you can do the bus deals around town to save driving. Get a 1,2,or3 day pass and use local transportation. Works great even for people our age (seniors)

Traveler's tip on dining

Not much dining in the Isle Of Palms area but if your willing to travel 5-8 miles there is plenty.

Great stay

The hotel staff was very friendly and our room was recently remodeled. We went down for a one night stay just to get away and go to the beach and this was the least expensive place we could find on the beach. We didn’t stay in a beach front room as we were on a budget. We weren’t expecting much, but were surprised at the newly remodeled room. There was no pool, but it is right on the beach and the room we got was a great price and great value, in my opinion.

family type atmosphere, helpful office staff, would return.

At the time of our stay, the hotel had many repeat guests that went out of their way to include and advise us making it feel very safe and homey. The office staff took personal interest in our activities and took time to visit. The "pool" is basically an over-size hottub, but with the beach right there, who cared? (except my lap-swimming daughter). The room was adequate for the small amount of time spent there-but a small chest of drawers and a mirror in the room would have made it easier to dress and primp while the bathroom was occupied. Its locale, shoulder to shoulder with the local VFW, added further hominess. Expect to hear some great bands from the two clubs yards away on weekends-the music didn’t disturb our sleep, but it was audible, so be prepared.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Parking at the hotel is very limited, but it costs to park there or on the street so its gonna cost either way. Just be prepared to walk-sometimes in a tropical storm.

For the money it was a good deal.

I liked the hotel overall, good location, good access to the beach, nice room. The parking situation needs to be improved, had to park across the street unless you have a sub-compact car.

Traveler's tip

If you drive a suv or standard size car you have to park in a parking lot across the street. The parking lot is under the hotel and is only for sub-compacts.

Great location

Nice clean hotel right on the beach, not a bad drive into Charleston for sightseeing. A little crazy for the holiday weekend, but a lovely quiet beach spot once the crowds left. The room was attractive and comfortable, but could have really used a small table for eating. Nice microwave and fridge, but no place to sit and eat except the bed. TV was small for room size. We had a great long weekend at the beach.

Good beach side hotel

For the price it was really great right on the beach with access to the beach from the hotel, the pool was not working wich was a bit of a downer, the breakfast area was right at the front desk with only one and a half tables to sit to eat your breakfast. Not so great. But overall I would recommend it to others.

Traveler's tip on dining

Charleston is only 15 minutes from Isle of Palms A great dining experience, so many fabulous resteurants and attractions.

Comment from the hotel's management

At the Seaside Inn it is always our goal to provide exceptional accommodations and service. We regret that we apparently fell short of our goal in this case. Parking is free on the Isle of Palms during the off-season, but the city charges for all spots from early April through October. When parking is free we do not charge our guests. We are always looking to improve the experience of our guests, and direct feedback is the absolute best way to do that. We encourage all of our guests to leave us detailed feedback so that we can constantly improve the hotel.

Will go back

The general building is attractive and decently maintained and best of all, located right on the beach. Location is it’s greatest asset. The room was very clean but certainly lacking in luxuary but given the cost, it presents excellent value. The only negative is the size of the room( two beds)which is a tad small but it certainly doesn’t outweigh the positives. I would go back and in fact have.

Traveler's tip on dining

Try the One Eyed Parrot for dinner(seafood) and the Sea Biscuit for breakfast. Truely good food at both places and moderately priced.
