Traveler's tip
The buses are often crowded and unairconditioned. The airport is approx. 4 hrs away- you are better off renting a private taxi for $165.00

Intimate and Quaint
After initial surprise at the sparseness of our room, we learned to LOVE La Perla. I would classify it as an upscale bed and breakfast. Its not a place to relax in your room, but why, in that gorgeous place, would anyone want to stay in the room? We loved it. The staff is great and well probably never stay anywhere as well kept and clean as La Perla
La Perla is 4 hours from San Jose which creates a LONG travel day. I think its worth it, but if time allows, stay overnight in San Jose pre and post.

Rustic Charm and Elegance
If you are looking to get escape from everything this is then the La Perla Negra is the place for you! THe grounds are beautifully maintained an the staff is friendly. The room we had was big and really comfortable. There are no phones or televisions in the rooms. They have a guest phone in the lobby/bar area and a flat screen too. I will come back tot he La Perla Negra on my next trip. If you need to get away from everything this is your place.
Traveler's tip on dining
Cafe Veijo is an amazing open air cafe that is not to be missed. They have more of an Italian flair with some local specialties.
