Very comfortable

This is an Historic Hotel and was in good share, very comfortable and in an outstaning location. Really liked the turtles left on the pillow by the maids. My only complaint is that the desk staff could have been a little more friendly.

Taxi’s are very expensive between airport and downtown. The taxi drivers also charged a dollar or more than the going rate of $28 so be careful. Also do what you can to share a ride with at least one other person to save money.

Outstanding hotel in beautiful, convenient neighborhood

Upon checkin, the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable, and full of Savannah charm. The complimentary wine and champagne each afternoon were a treat and the bartender was an absolute sweetheart. She gave us great advice on where to eat and shop and things to do in Savannah. The location of the hotel is perfect for travelers who like to be walking distance to food (Paula Dean’s Restaurant, The Boar’s Head, etc.), shopping, and tours. It is also steps from the free water taxi pick up and drop off location. The neighborhood is safe for walking, even after dark. I highly recommend the River Street Inn!

Walking distance to many restaurant options. We were not disappointed in any restaurant we tried. You must try cheesy grits with shrimp!

Ty HIGHLY recommends this hotel!

Everything was perfect! The staff was very friendly and helpful. I have stayed here several times and this past time was even better than the last. Will stay here every time I go to Savannah!!!

Must eat at Mrs. Wilkes Boarding House! Be there at 10:30 for the lunch line. Go to Savannah Smiles! It is the a excellent dueling piano bar. If you like a pub without 10 televisions got to Kevin Berry’s Irish Pub. There is live music every night and no televisions!

Historic Charm

Great location with restaurants and live music on site but everything is within walking distance. We loved the riverview and the quaintness of everything at the hotel. The balcony even though small would provide riverboat views and the benefit of being able to hear the street musicians play their saxophones. Very laidback and beautiful. Best hotel for the money we have found ever. The free wine and snacks made a great opportunity to meet some new friends!!

Go ahead and do the trolley tour . You can catch it close to Riverview Inn and stop and get off and on whenever you want. Tour guides on these trollies are very good.

Historical Hotel with great location

Location is great. We checked in on Friday and left out on Monday. Never used the car the whole time. Our room was very clean, flat screen tv, large bathroom, king bed....very comfortable. Wine and cheese served daily at 5:00.

Can’t wait to go back!

River Street Inn was one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed in. My goal was to pick a hotel centrally located to all of the tourist destinations and this hotel was the perfect one (above River Street). The age of the building added to it’s charm and the renovations were well maintained. The room was very nice and the river view was great. The staff were very friendly and efficient. My stay at the hotel definitely added to the overall enjoyment of the trip and I can’t wait to go back!

Best time to visit is during the week in the off peak season (Sept./Oct.). Great weather, less people and traffic when exploring the city.

Definitely Would Return

My daughter and I spent 4 nights at the Inn and were very happy. The room was great - very old fashioned but with all the modern conveniences. The staff was more than happy to help with anything we needed. The location was fabulous - right on the river and within walking distance of everything in the historic district. It was great to be able to walk out the back door and sit along the river every evening watching the ships go by, plus there was always entertainment going on. There’s also lots of fun shops and so many restaurants that you can’t possibly visit them all. There is no breakfast provided by the inn, which would have been nice if there had been, but we survived without it. The inn does provide complimentary afternoon wine and hors d’voeures which is very nice. You can sit on the veranda and enjoy your wine while viewing the river. There is no parking right next to the inn (except to load or unload your vehicle) but there is a parking garage across the street for $8 a day which is very convenient. Be sure and take a trolley ride (tickets are sold right outside the back door of the inn) that tours the whole historic district - it really helps you see everything and then you know what places you want to go and visit. All and all it was a great time. You do have to look closely to see the sign for the inn - lots of trees and not a very big sign. I would definitely return to the River Street Inn when I visit Savannh again!

Visit Tybee Island while in Savannah. It’s a 20 minute drive. Very historic and a wonderful beach.

Experience an Inn with character!

The hotel was beautiful. Old and well maintained. A bit noisy at night due to bar music and cruisers. Maid service was superior. Highly recommended unless you’re a light sleeper.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Enjoy the beautiful gardens and architecture that only Savannah has to offer.

Fantastic!

This is a beautiful hotel in a fabulous location. The service was excellent. Being the last to check in, we were given a complimentary upgrade to a room with a balcony overlooking the river. Stan at the front desk was great and recommended a restaurant nearby with great crab bisque. Will definitely return to this hotel!

Very nice stay

Hotel was in a great location. Staff was very friendly. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, just a little musty smell, but not bad. Parking was a big problem for us, but we had a larger vehicle and we worked it out eventually. Great City. Loved the complimentary wine and cheese at "happy hour"!

Traveler's tip on dining

Check out Jazz’d for great tapas, drinks and live jazz!

Very nice place to stay right on River Street! Great view of the river!

The hotel is extremely vintage and nice! We had a riverview room with a small balcony, its just big enough to stand on, but was very nice to be able to look down at the happenings on River Street. It was an excellent get-a-way!

Traveler's tip on dining

For good food and low prices check out One Eyed Lizzy’s.

Great get-away!

This hotel is right on the river, in the middle of the Savannah historic district. We were able to easily walk to events, restaurants, and shopping. The hotel staff was very nice and the room and hotel were both decorated nicely and very clean. The only drawback that I should mention is that parking is maybe a block away in the parking garage, but it’s very easy to drop off luggage and keep the car parked for the weekend. This is a wonderful hotel in a great location and I highly recommend it!

Good option for business or pleasure

Good hotel with great character. Located right on River Street, so it was very convenient to most everything. Very clean. Things to consider....no pool, no free parking(10-12.00) daily, and hotel of this caliber should consider offering some type of free continental breakfast (they don’t). If you can live without those things it is a great stay.

Would love to have stayed longer .

The bed was less than comfortable and the room had a slight musty odor , but given the age of the building and the location on the river , I found it added a touch of nostalgia . I found the entire staff very friendly and very helpful . I would definately stay there again .

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Take a horse drawn carriage tour of the historic district and then rent a "Savannah Cruiser" to go back and see everything that you missed .

Great Location

We had a great four night stay. Hotel is in perfect location to do anything you want in downtown. Only issue we had was that the wi-fi service is terrible.

Traveler's tip on dining

Huey’s is great for breakfast and only get drinks and appetizers from One Eyed Lizzy’s. Make the trip to Tybee Island to eat at the Crab Shack

Perfect location for a southern getaway!

The hotel is located right on the river in the historic district. It has wide hallways and old charm. The hotel seems to have acquired the building next door recently and our room was in the "new" building and it was intially somewhat confusing trying to find our room. The room had a four poster bed and overlooked the square (we got the cheaper room not overlooking the river and yet, it was perfect). The parking garage is across the street, not valet like I had read. It’s somewhat difficult to find so call and get the cross streets at the street light where you should turn into for the hotel. It is also located by one of the Old Savannah Trolly stops which makes it very easy to get a ride back after a busy day of touring if you chose the hop on/hop off ticket. We took the The Old Savannah Tours for the ghost tour as well which included dinner at the Pirate House and a visit to the rum cellar. While you are at the mercy of your tour guide because they don’t work from a script, it is the only ghost tour to go into the Rum Cellar. A woman on the tour unexpectedly got a great photo of an old sea captain ghost on her camera.

Traveler's tip on dining

There is a place for breakfast called Blue Goode Cafe at 41 Whitakesr Street. The Katie Scarlett, a generous place of sweet potato pancakes with a homemade praline topping is amazing. The cakes are sturdy pancakes but light like a creamy souffle in the center and the topping melts right over it. Lady and Sons was good but nothing remarkable. It was nice to go once so I can say that I have been there but I wouldn’t go back (and I am glad we went for lunch instead of dinner).

Great Place

Awesome location, awesome hotel, awesome staff.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

We went on a haunted pub crawl (Creepy Crawlers Pub Crawl); I highly recommend it. It begins and ends within walking distance from the River Street Inn.

Curate’s Egg

Hard to beat the riverview, and the room was very attractive. But cleanliness left something to be desired (filthy toilet, trash under the bed), and the hotel staff were sometimes slow to respond to basic requests. The front desk was often unoccupied. Too bad, as the hotel has a lot going for it in other respects.

Excellent location!

I spent three nights at the River Street Inn and have to say it was quite a pleasure. The entire staff are friendly and the location simply cannot be beat! The hotel itself is first class and if you like history, this is the place. I will defintely stay here again the next time I am in Savannah.
